Hi my name is Laura Kunath and I am your regional director. I live in Elroy, WI and am 17 years old. I own 6 El Caminos (not all running but that doesn't matter). People in my community like to think of me as a El Camino fanatic. My first El Camino was a 79 or a complete rust bucket. I did get it to look pretty darn nice though. I designed custom paint to mimic the red Royal Knight except I painted it blue. My second is an 85 Conquista which was in an accident and needed plenty of work. I still had to fight people over it though. I finally got my way. My third is a 70 SS that was originally from Hawaii. And my last three I got as a package deal. I found out about them from a teacher at school. The crazy thing about it was they were going to parts them out the next weekend until I got there and saved them.
Anyways if you know of any car shows Please post them especially since that is the one thing I never hear about! If you need parts I have a few connections in the area and I am pretty sure I can find you what you need. If you have any questions or just want to shoot the breeze feel free to post something or email me

or just send me a pm. See ya and I am looking forward to meeting you guys

Hi I am glad to see that someone as young as I am into the El Caminos. I am 24 and I have had many many many cars. Well probably close to 2-3 dozen of them and my favorite is of coarse the Elky. I have had 3 of them. The first one was my dream car came from SD and is the one I have had to put a lot of work into the motor ect. Than the 79 I had saved it from going to the evil crusher however that one everyone has asked me what I see in that car and I say that it is my 78 Elkies boyfriend. 78 el camino name is Ellie and than the 79 is Elmer. Well than right after that I found a 79 El Camino and that thing the frame was rusted under the rear end and than the motor was pretty well striped. So that one ended up going into my other elkies. It was very generaous it gave its life for the life of the other two. However I am looking for many interior parts. I do have the blue dash however I am still looking for a blue bent seat prefered than the blue trim pieces around the inside. I also would need the carpets. If anyone knows of any junk yards in MN or WI that would possibly have a Elky. Anyone in MN looking for parts for any car and wants a unique junkyards where you go and pull your own parts the web address is www.upullrparts.com So feel free to check out that junk yard. Have fun bidding on ebay or such. I hope that someone also has infor for me.

Hi all, I'm also a new member-late 2003 and have a fondness for elkys! My wife thinks they are ugly! Of course she really hates the 70 ranchero thats for sale locally! I think both are neat cars, anything different is fine with me. I currently don't have a running elky, still holding on to my 80 royal knight. I've had it since I was 16(I'm 30 now), pretty nice interior, but thats about it(SALT!). I've been on the lookout for a nicer 5th gen, but they are tough to come by in this neck of the woods. I live in Prairie du Sac(30 miles north of Madison, WI) and love seeing Elky's at car shows. I usually head over to Jefferson for both shows and Iola, should be seeing more and more 5th gens at these in the next few years. Hopefully run into some of you at these shows, along with all your cars! Take Care, Jason

I am 21 in Johnson Creek WI, I own a 85 SS with a cracked frame. But I found an 83 choo choo conversion car with no motor but it is a v6 car. I am wondering if you or any one else knows how hard it is to convert the car over. I have most of the parts I just need to put 2 and 2 together to make 1. Thanks. I was the king in high school when I got my elky I hope you gain a lot of respect from your classmates, and Always take up 4 parking stalls no matter what. I had more door dings than you could think of. Good luck.

Howdy

Well it shouldn't take that much to get the engine converted over. The v6 all you may have to do is adjust the engine mounts however I am not sure. I am currently putting a 350 engine in my 78 Elky cause my motor blew a rod. It was originally a 350 so there isn't anything really to convert just take the engine out of the impala and than stick it into the Elky and than away I go. I should have it done sometime next week hopefully. Probably next wednesday or thursday since I have those days off. Why can't you have the frame welded or something???

The frame cracked 3 inches behind the axle just ahead of the weld for the rear frame horns. It didn't help that 3 of the 4 body mounts were rotten through. Welding was not an option on this $500 car. But I found a southern car that had a 6 and is in need of repair of the floor boards. I just have to get the 52 Studebaker 2R10 out of the garage so I can work on a vehicle that I can aford to fix up and have ready for when I am out of classes in the summer.
