Hi all ,

I just picked up a 1986 El Camino off a guy in boston and was woundering if in 1986 they had a fuel injection option for the 305 .
I ask because the owner is unsure it was his son's .

I know it was an option my dad's 79 was 350 fuel injected .

No i dont know much about the car but it was a good price and seeing the pics little to no rust .

Thanks for your time and wish me luck picking it up .

The only fuel injected engine in any 5th gen El Camino was the 85-87 4.3L TBI V6. There was never a factory installed fuel injected V8 in any El Camino.

Your dad's 1979 "what" was fuel injected? I don't recollect any 1979 Chevys being fuel injected and I worked for Chevy about that time.

Sorry I was just a kid when my dad had the car my brother told me it was infact fuel injected .
My dad bought a wrote off reended 1961 corvette that was factor mechanical fuel injection .
When the motor in his El camino went me swaped it with the 350 from the corvette , seeing as the vette was to far gone to restore .
It was a lot more work then he thought and this was around 1987-1988 but he and my uncle got it done .

Sorry i ment to correct myself his was a 350 (El camino) that was switch to a 283 (vette motor) however he used the camino block (350) .
Still using the rochester (???) fuel injection system (283) .
I would say at best it was a odd motor , but from what i recall it sounded awsome .
