: Project Update-ON HOLD
highwaysignpost 10-02-2006, 02:45 PM Well, I've removed trim, bumpers, lights, grille, mud flaps and whatever else I could remove on the outside. Then started tearing apart the inside and was just getting some momentum....Then I had to stop :D

highwaysignpost 05-07-2007, 12:03 PM Well while my daughter is advancing quickly and steadily, the Diablo has not been sitting idle. Slowly I've been acquiring parts for when I get back at it. I've got the parts car which supplies me with new aftermarket quarter panels, and virtually rust free fenders and doors. The frame is in better shape and it came witha posi rear end. It's more than what I needed at this point but I couldn't pass up the deal. I've come to the conclusion that I'll be learning a lot more than I thought I would because a quote of 4 grand to put just the quarters on is a bit steep for me. Looking forward to making more progress over the summer, pics and updates forthcoming as I move forward.
Cheers!
ElkyPete 05-08-2007, 10:13 AM Congratulations!
BTW Who is that ugly dude holding your daughter!?! 8O
Seriously, congratulations! :yourock:
Camino LS6 05-09-2007, 04:06 PM Congrats!
highwaysignpost 10-03-2008, 01:14 PM Well well, time does fly when your ride sits eh? Happy to be back amongst all of you. My girl is now 2 and content with daddy working on the car. I'll be stripping the last couple of parts of the donor car and having it hauled off. Stripped my donor doors and assessed the repairs needed-overall pretty good doors (both sets) so I'm not expecting those to take me long to refurbish. The major project for winter is those pesky quarter panels (baby steps ya know). Bottom line is I miss my Diablo and itching to get working on her again.
Once again-thanks to all of you and this site. Every one I find in my city that has one I point in this direction.
PaPa Johns 77 10-03-2008, 03:04 PM Wow! I had to scroll back to the top and check the date!!! It doesn't seem that long ago that you posted that picture! Time does fly for sure!
Glad you are back to posting and getting restarted on the Cruck!
highwaysignpost 10-06-2008, 11:30 AM Thanks John :-D and it was a productive weekend, got the rear window out without to much trouble and decided to go for the gauge cluster and the glove box just to be on the save side. I think I've harvested all I can so no I can get some of my drive way back  And-just like old times I've got the skinned knuckles to pove it!
355el-camino 10-06-2008, 12:02 PM WOW congrats man and enjoy
1BadElky 10-06-2008, 07:16 PM lol, I thought this was recent. glad to hear all is well.
John Harris 10-06-2008, 07:54 PM Well, Andrew, it's time to post a new photo of your daughter sitting in her future El Camino so we can see your progress on both! No one ever said this was a weekend project, now, did they??? Has she told you yet what her favorite color is so you can get the correct paint?
highwaysignpost 10-07-2008, 01:34 PM Absolutely! it's about time for some new pics eh? I've got a couple of the donor stripped down but I should take some of the girl crawling around the interior (I'll have to make some room :P ) Funny thing though, she can talk your ear off but for some reason she's not really interested in colours. Maybe I'll have to keep it Silver so she doesn't have to choose.
highwaysignpost 04-20-2010, 07:35 PM Well, well, well for those of you who thought I fell off the face of the earth....I didn't. Actually we had another child, this time a son!! So here we are 4 years and 2 kids later and I virtually gutted my Diablo and it is at the shop getting new metal!! It's great to come back here and see the great site, the great folks and great pics. I enthusiastically sent in my support for the site and I can't wait to get driving again. I'm thrilled to see actual door skins and shells for sale too! That's great news for us 5th gen'ers. I'll get pics up as soon as I can.
Cheers!

theelcaminofactory 04-21-2010, 09:36 AM Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey welcome back.......(just a thought) but how you gonna fit two car seats in an Elky? I guess that doesn't really matter...you can always get one of them urban assault vehicles...I think they call them station wagons. Congrats on your new son!

highwaysignpost 05-30-2010, 12:48 PM Quick update, found some rusted out body mounts-looks like the partial resto will have to become a complet frame off if I want to save her :???:
Looks like she'll have to be mothballed for a a bit longer.
I'll be around but I'm sad.
