I have almost completed my front end rebuild on the 1987 Choo Choo SS - used the Speedway Racing tubular upper A-arms & a bunch of other stuff. I set up my new tie rods so the front edge of the lower tires is about 1/8" shorter than the rear edge, pretty close I think. But the tires seem to be leaning in too far at the top - I used the original factory shims when I installed the tubular arms, probably need a few more. And have not yet lowered thejacks, it is not sitting on the tires yet. Have to fix a leaking brake line before I take it off of the jack stands. Any specs on setting up the front suspension before I drive it to the alignment shop? Not sure if I should add more shims or can I drive it 10 miles until i get it to the alignment shop without eating the new tires?
Thanks,
Dave

Your best bet is to put a set of junk tires and wheels on the front to drive to an alignment shop so you dont wreck your good ones. The elky needs to be sitting on the ground at ride height to eyeball the toe and camber. When its on jack stands the camber will look way off. Without turnplates to sit the front wheels on, your only going to be able to get the adjustments in the ballpark anyway. If you need to drive 10 or 12 miles to a shop you may be ok but I wouldnt take a chance. If the toe and/or camber are way off you could ruin a nice set of tires. Hope this helps, chuck.

Thanks Chuck. I have a new set of tires coming, and am going to polish my aluminum wheels from a 1987 Monte Carlo SS before installing the new tires, but will definately put the new ones in the back, throw on a couple of spares up front, and drive it to the shop that way!
Thanks,
Dave
