Im in Auckland and have a 74 classic, 454,th400,3.23 12bolt. It has swivel seats and floor shifter with console. Came from Arizona, used to be a shopping cart once a month for a couple of hillbilly brothers.
I want to hook up with other kiwi owners and organise days out in summer etc. Anyone keen?
Check out my photo in the members rides.

Hey 74elkynz, another NZ member joined up recently. Come back and say hello.

I am a recently joined Aussie member who is bringing a 75 El Camino back onto the road.

Hi 74elkynz, if your still around, I'd like to let you know that I'm another kiwi on this site. Hope you pop in to see this.

Cheers,
Joy

:D Hi to you too, Yeah, there seems to have been a couple on here. The more the merrier I reckon. Welcome, you've probably discovered by now what a grouse site this is, very very helpful. Where abouts are you situated?

New Zealand's pretty small when it comes to the car scene, so chances are we will bump into each other. We were down Americarna in New Plymouth in February, and have already registered for next year. Went to Beach hop, but havent been down Wellington way for a few years.

I have heard a lot about the beach hop, but haven't got there yet. Hopefully I will next time. That's something to aim for. It seems to be getting really popular. Your right about the car scene, yeah, we could very well bump in to each other.

Welcome from a resident Aussie Kiwi Connection. Great to have another ANZAC on board.

Joy, I see your use of "grouse". Not such a well used term these days and good to see.

Hi John, Yes, we still use it funnily enough, and it certainly is good to see another ANZAC on here. I hope your keeping well? :)

Just insanely busy at work these days, hence my visits to ECC have dropped off dramatically.

My El Camino was in the Transmission workshop for about 6 weeks (I told them no hurry) and when I got it back there were oil leaks (which it went in to have fixed) from the power steering and Auto. At least they fixed the diff. It is back there again and who knows when I will get it back again. Not much of an issue as I am working in Canberra so have no time to work on it anyway.

I trust life is still good in NZ.

Cheers

Hi again John, That's no good about your car, I hope they get it sorted for you soon. Maybe it's just as well your in Canberra.

At the moment I drive my ute daily, as my Hilux has a blown head gasket, but I should be getting it fixed soon through a friend. The poor old girl is holding out pretty well considering, touch wood. In the meantime I'm just chipping away at having bits and pieces done on her though. I'll get there eventually.

Life is not toooo bad down here, what about across the ditch?

Have you jumped the ditch for good or just visiting?
Good to see Aussies and Kiwis on this forum.

Kiwi Connection, apologies for the delay in responding as I only just realised your question was directed at me.

I am firmly entrenched here in OZ. I was an import myself (from England) when I was a "pup" but fairly settled here in Melbourne (well working in Canberra for the rest of 2007). I would dearly love to get an assignment in the US and spend 6 months to 2 years over there. My wife and I holiday in the US every year and love it, however the way work pressures are going there may not be a US trip for us in 2007.

Been looking at the Aussie site, some nice cars....
good that you can write on both sites.
Hopefully we will get a few more on the site from NZ. It would be good to get together for a run. I've seen a few out and about.

Hey Kiwi Connect, I have taken a leaf out of your book and registered for the 2008 Americarna. Did you know that they are raising the number of entrants to 750? That sounds like a heck of a lot of cars for New Plymouth, it sounds like it's sure to be a hoot. We may yet get to hook up.

Didnt realise you had answered. I get a bit lost around this forum. That's cool you are going. I thought it was only 650 cars, they must have done a bit of homework so they can fit them all in. It was very well organised last year. We didnt stay where the majority of people stayed, so really only saw people when we went on the night / day cruise and when we were parked up in town for the day. Hopefully weather will be good like the first one....made all the difference. You havent got far to drive either....my partner will be taking his car, and all going well, I'm planning on takin the 60 as well, but will wait and see....if you are that close, we will definitely have to meet up.

Hi Maree, yeah! :) we will have to catch up. I'm looking forward to it, that's a lot of cars. What sort of car does your partner have? I think the trip up there is 3 1/2 to 4 hours, fingers crossed it'll be a good trip up and back. We should organise something when the time gets a bit closer ay?

Hi Joy.
I know what you mean, seems to me only the girls that own Elkys in this part of the world cruise this site! Hope all is well.

Hey there girl, Lol, I think you are right. I haven't been on here for while, and when I saw that mine was the last post for NZ, I thought I better put some feelers out. You never know, they might just need some spurring. How are you doing? Keep those emails coming, I do enjoy them. I haven't registered for Americarna yet, but am going to do it. I'm just pricing some new Cragars for my car at the moment, and some front shocks. Have you had much more progress on your wagon since you sent me those pics?

Joy :)

I was surprised to see your message, I thought you hadnt been on for a while, good you getting some stuff sorted for your car. Slow progress since last photos, hopefully an improvement in a few weeks.
Talk to you soon.
Hopefully some other Kiwis will jump on.

My ex is trying to talk me into getting rid of this one and getting another elco, hmmmmm! I don't know. There is one on Trade Me, have a look and but I think the price is a weeeee bit rich for me. Nice car though. Auction no 147012184. Might be interesting for our American counterparts to note the price as well.

that's very nice isnt it, are you tempted?...lotto tomorrow, you never know, buy an extra ticket...there was a gorgeous black 69 el camino on there but that was $50,000.00. It was mean though.

joyjed

Very tempted, but I think I can control myself. Yeah, that black one was here in Wellington I think? Wasn't it 53,000 the asking price? Definately out of my price range, lol. I think I caught a glimpse of it going through Tawa once, yes...very nice.
