I am in possession of a 1973 El Camino SS, I want to give it a lift, I'm not sure if I should put on an air system or the old hockey puck trick. I think 3 inches should do fine, any suggestions or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to ECC, Jeremy. The general population here is usually somewhat negative on the idea of raised up ElCamino's.

I'm not interested in making it a monster truck, i just want it to sit a bit higher. I'm a muscle car guy, not a monster truck guy, a slight lift will help make it look beefier. If you guys cant help please point me in the direction of someone who can.

How much do you want to lift it? If you still have the original springs, replacing them with stock, or heavy-duty springs will probably give you an inch or so. Replacing them with Chevelle, or even Chevelle Wagon, springs will give a bit more lift, but a stiffer ride.

Measure the distance from the top of your rear axle to the bottom of the frame. Add in the lift you want, and see who has a '73 with a similar spacing.

If you have a small block, big block springs would raise the front a good bit. Air shocks in the rear may do what you want.
