I check it out ocationally. I am in the other Nebraska (No Chadron isn't in Wyoming lol) but I do check to see if anything is going on in the area.
We do have a couple of small shows coming up in the panhandle though.

Sept. 1 in Rushville City Park. great small show (usually about 50 to 100 cars and plenty of shade)

Sept. 15 or 22 (I'm not sure what day they settled on but I'll let you know as soon as I find out) Down town Chadron.

ok, well at least i know there's still some car shows in this area. Everyone is winding down because summer is basically over out here (RC, SD)

I just might drive my lazy butt down to Chadron on the 15th.

Nice to know there are a few people who are from this region

I'm in Northwest Iowa. I just recently found this site.

I'm about ready to return "home" to Omaha after spending the past 10 years in Wichita and Kansas City. I was very active in the old-car community (primarily T-birds) but just got my '87 a few months before leaving town. Before I left in '97 there was a guy in South O that did a lot of work on Elkys (replaced my tranny, repaired the steering column and installed a hardened ignition switch rack) and a body shop in downtown Papillion, but I'm not sure if any of these places are still around.

Are there any places that anyone in the area can recommend to do body/paint or mechanical work on a 5th Gen? I really want to get it redone before I drive it to my new job. Part of the reason I'm leaving my old one is because the shabby appearance of my car didn't sit well with my employer, and I don't want to start out with any 'bad' impressions at the new gig.

Do you mean Motor Pool auto sales on south 13th I think? They aren't there anymore but I wondered if he was on this site. I bought my 85 SS from him.

The body shop in Papillion (I don't recall name but know it was next to Papillion (?) Creek on the east side of 84th St. near the Dairy Queen) did the body work for Motor Pool. I stopped by Motor Pool when I started looking for my 5th Gen in the summer of '97 but didn't have a "good" feeling - I got mine from a private party near Blair. The repair shop I was referring to was Ray's Auto & Marine, which was in a 4-car garage behind the guy's house northwest of 42nd & L.

The guy at Motor Pool was a little abrasive until you got to know him, but he was a good guy. I would stop in every year or so when I lived far away from Nebraska (visiting my family in Omaha) and chat with him about El Caminos. He had a lot of knowledge and love for them.

I remember him telling me about the body shop in Papio (or Ralston?) that was doing up his first IROC conversion. Wasn't up by or part of that speed shop by the school?
