I have a stock 305 which needs a new carb. It currently has the stock unit but I would like to upgrade. I just put on a custom 2-1/2" dual exhaust with dual cats and Flowmaster 40s. I'm planning to get an upgraded engine in a couple of years (probably a 383 stroker) but want opinions on a quality carb that would work well on the 305 but also be able to be used on the 383.

Any help is appreciated?

If emissions are in control hands down the Edelbrock 1400 carb is a great choice. Its a 600CFM carb that your 305 will only really need. for the 383 you will probably need a 650cfm or 750cfm carb depending on your set up. But the Edelbrock pt#1400 is a 50 state legal 600CFM electric choke carb thats awesome. i love it. Plus they arent a bitch to rebuild!
