Hey guys,
This is the list of mods im doing on my 1973 350 elky.
Mods include:
-Eledbrock 4 barrel 600cfm electric choke carb
-hooker shorty headers
-mandrel bend true duals
-flowmaster mufflers
-Edelbrock performer RPM cam
-K&N high flow filter w/ X-Stream top
-electric fan
Will i notice a difference when im all done with these for my el camino performance wise? How many extra horses do you think i will pick up?
Someone said my elky can run to 60 from 0 in about 8 secs. Do you think this will improve that time by much? Gas mileage will definately improve right?
Thanks guys.

All of the changes you are making are good and you should have a very noticeable improvement in performance with a 50hp increase in power at least. Don't forget to recurve your distributor for maximum effect.

I think the I'd either keep the cast iron exhaust or go with full length headers. Yeah, shorty headers are easier to install but they don't do a whole lot. Another thing, you mention that you are putting a mandrel bent dual exhaust system, but don't mention what size pipes, I assume you plan on 2 1/2" pipes?

Hey guys,
thanks for the replies! Yeah, im atleast going wiht a 2 1/2 inch system. What do you mean about recurving my distributor? Thanks.

Mid-lenght headers for a lowered street car is a good choice otherwise you can have ground clearance problems. In my opinion the small loss in performance is worth the aggravation of a ground-up exhaust system. Recurve the distributor advance to make sure you have 38 degrees total advance (minus the vacuum advance) at 2800rpms with an initial advance of 10-14 degrees. Good luck.
