Another Super Chevy is over and only 2 ECC member enter? Clear sky's and cloudy sky's and very hot on the asphalt field. Lenny Carey came from Key West with his 87 Gen 5 Modified Class Super nice Elky and captured Outstanding Runner Up (which is second to the class winner). The 2nd ECC Elky Skinyfisher From Palm Harbor with a 69 SS Gen 3 Street Class getting Class Winner 1st place.
The show had very high quality cars in all models but was down in car count about 20% from preious shows. It might have been the fear of the "LOVE BUGS", which were very bad 2 weeks prior. http://elcaminocentral.com/albums/SUPER-CHEVY-GAINSVILE-FL-2006/PA210006_001.JPGhttp://elcaminocentral.com/albums/SUPER-CHEVY-GAINSVILE-FL-2006/PA210004_CROPPED.JPG

Congratulations are in order to Skinnyfisher and Lenny. Congrats!

Sorry guys. I had every intention of attending this show. I even spent some additional money in an attempt to have everything in place.

In the end, weekend work obligations and schedules changed everything.

Rest assured I will participate in the upcoming events. Brandenton is in February. We can plan and shoot for that.

In the interim, I hear Rockledge will be having their annual show this Saturday from 3 to 10 pm. The Elco and I will be there. Perhaps some of the locals might be interested in attending.

BTW... I noticed there is no Super Chevy Gainseville show in next year's schedule. Is that subject to change?

That is correct the second Florida stop will be Moroso in Palm Beach
Sept 21 or so. Nice date rains every day if there is no H-cane,temp is 95 with 100% hum, and the track is surrounded by swamp. Which means 10,000 love bugs per parking place !!!!!! What is super chevy thinking, I have not missed a Florida S.C. in 4 years but that one looks ify.

I too hated to have missed the Gainesville show, but I was in Dallas, TX.
ElDawgg, I'm planning on hitting the Rod Run on saturday, looking for some LED lights to mount in the back, since the PO shaved the stockers.
Maybe a deal on some Cragers.

Sorry it took me a while to check in but I enjoyed Gainesville so much I stayed a little longer.Stayed with old friends and got to visit my relatives that are living just around the corner. The show was a great time for me and I enjoyed the drag racing, beautiful cars and trucks, new and used parts for sale and friendly people.Skinyfisher, thanks for the advise, info and posting a photo of my 87.I must admit that I was surprised.I will try to post my photos or email them to you next week.My wife will try and help but she has been slammed with Goombay, Fantasy Fest ,and next week Jimmy Buffets "Parrotheads "are in town.Your 69 looked fantastic at the show. The paint work you did was so perfect we could not see a single imperfection or color difference.I needed to do a bottom paint job on a 30 ft, sailing catamaran that I have for sale but now have to get into the boatyard to repair a 18 in. hole in the starboard hull. Two days before the Chevy Show two lady sailors in the club lost control of their boat and slammed into mine tied to the dock.82 Elco, thanks for the phone calls and hope to meet you,Jive 65 and Elwagg again at the next show.Bradenton sound good to me!

I figured you were away from home. Glad you liked the show and the drags I was not liking the heat that weekend and was hiding in a friends vender booth with good shade.
Make sure you look at the rest of the pic I took, go to the members gallery CAR SHOW page 7.
Put Feb 07 Super Chevy in Bradenton on your calendar to meet up and we can cover that show also.

Indeed it sure seems that a good time was had by all. As much as I tried to make it out there, I just could not get the show and work schedules to cooperate.

I went to the Super Chevy show web page and checked out the Gainesville 2006 winners, paying closer and special attention to the El Camino section of course.

Congratulations to all of you once again. Good job.

I hope bradenton will be the same or a little better than Gainesville. The weather should be alot nicer that time of year. I'll keep checking.

Rod run... not sure about that just yet. I think I'll be out of town. Will see what happens.
