Hello everyone,

I have a '78 El Camino that I have been slowly upgrading with parts from the local junk yards. I am trying to find out how I could upgrade to better front discs and possiby change to rear discs with parts that may be relatively easy to locate.
My best scores yet have been from an '86 Monte SS that looked like it had been severely abused. I managed to get the sway bars, skid plate bars, and steering box from it. I also got the Regal bar and configured everything up as others have from this site. I also installed Eibach lowered springs and KYB shocks. This has really helped the handling of my El Camino.

Hi Pat,
Check out my previous post. The difference in braking power is amazing, and you can probably find these at the local junkyard or on ebay for around $300 for a pair.

did you have to do anything to the rewst of the system? combination valve, booster, MC, etc?

I used all original stock brake system with original booster, mc & valve, only addition besides the S-10 Extreme spindle/rotor/caliper set up was the Hawk pads for the Extreme and Russell Stainless steel lines for the El Camino/Monte Carlo. My rear brakes are stock drums with aluminum drums from a 80's Camaro. Future rear brake upgrades that I will probably do in the spring include adding pistons from a 1980's S-10 with manual brakes, these have a larger piston in them than the power brake ones, and I still have not put my Russell line in the back yet.
