it all started with the wipers going slow, then it passed to an irregular start (like they were stuck), then they did not go down all the way. now they dont work at all.where do i start?..

To start, make sure the wiper motor is grounded good. A clip jumper from the block to the wiper motor will make a difference if that is the problem.

This is very important. Many GM wiper motor get replaced and the real problem is the ground. I brass strap is used from the body to one of the mounting bolts. The bolt can get rusty or the strap can corrode at the aluminum body causing a bad ground. Check this first.

I had an odd one caused by this ground. Have an '88 fullsized wagon with the motor located below the center of the windshield. The thing quit working properly and it being the original, I merely got a rebuilt. Put it in place, got a bolt started to hold it in, put another bolt in place and tried to tighten it.... HMMMmm, bolt seems too short, won't start. Tried the last bolt in that location..... HMMMMmm, this one won't go in either. Removed the wiper assy and whaddaya know: the bolt that held the ground strap had broken right where it went into the firewall bracket 8O

There was nothing wrong with the old wiper but I swapped it anyhow...... Had to run a good ground wire to another bolt in the firewall in place of that missing grounding bolt since I couldn't get the broken piece outta the firewall bracket :?
