Hello all, I new to this board and I've got a question. I've just purcased a '74 and would like to know some of the factory specs on it ( it's weight, horsepower, etc). I'm the fifth owner of this car, it's real clean. It's a California car with a 400 4barrel, automatic trans. I know that this isn't a lot of info, but I haven't even had time to drive it yet! Any help woud be great. :D

A 1973 El Camino weighs 3,725 lbs, with a payload of approx. 1,300 lbs. I would believe a 74-77 would have very close to the same statistics. Standard '74 engine was the 350. Also available were two 400cid engines and the 454cid. This was the middle of the first big Arab Oil Embargo and the GM horsepower ratings reflected this with low hp ratings, (350: 160hp, 400: 180hp, 454:235hp). Wheelbase was 116", length was 216.25", width 76.75", height 54".

Here is a site that may help you out. I also just purchased a daily driver 74" elky Classic. Hope that I can do it justice and restore and or custom build, money dictates. Daily driver that I try to do at least one thing to it a week, small or large, but need to start taking pics and documenting restororation. Anyway here is the link :
