My 1973 just bought has shoulder harness and lap belt but after a few uses the buckle for two of the three belt systems fell apart in my hand.

If I want "modern" lap and shoulder belts installed will it require taking out the seat and / or taking out some interior lining that hides the frame where the shoulder part goes, or is it relatively simple?

I'm thinking to pay a body shop or someone to do it for me in the interest of time (I'm in need of state inspection sticker) but don't know exactly what I'm up against.

Thanks for any help from anyone experienced.... Tommy

that year/style of seat belt buckles had a recall. they were designated the name "exploding buckles" in light of their way of breaking, the spring exploding and leaving it useless. contact your local chevy dealership, they should know if it and be able to tell you what to do in order to have them replaced. a like-factory new set belts and all is in the range of 500+ duckets :( as far as a new setup goes... good luck and lube up.

i miss my 73.
