Hello I have been lurking here for a wilse now. I just bought a 1969 el camino custom. I have recieved the GM resto packet but I am having trouble with the rpo code for my car. Anyway here goes any help would be great.
ST 69 13680 - Bal137091
TR 755 52 B
10E BFM054818 Thanx
Soory but there are not options codes on this tag, you would need to find any original Chevrolet assembly plant broadcast sheet (aka Buildsheet) that would have been left in the vehicle during assembly. It was never the intention to leave them there but often they were covered over with carpet or on the back sides of components and never seen.
Here is the break down on the body tag.
ST 69 13680 - Bal137091
ST is short for STyle
69 is for 1969 model year
13680 - Chevrolet Chevelle El Camino 2 dr pickupd delivery
BAL is short for BALtimore, the final assembly plant
137091 is the body serial number, not to be confused with the VIN which is totall differently even thought they appear similar.
TR 755 52 B
TR is short for TRim
755 is the interior trim code for Black vinly bench seat
52 B is the lower paint color and vinyl top color codes; 52=Garnet Red, B=Black top
10E BFM054818
10E is the production month and week
10 is October 1968 (69 model production had ended by July of 69)
E is the 5th week of the month
BFM 054818 are internal plant processing idents and have unknown meaning and revelance. Baltimore Assembly was a GM Assemble Division plant building other makes besides Chevrolet so they used these codes for assembly tracking and for id'ing the body when it arrived at the final assembly lines. There was a schedule bank between the Fisher side of the plant and the Chevrolet side, so the high-work content stuff could be scheduled to the main line at predictable intervals so individual line operations didn't get over-cycled. Linking together all production departments throughout the facility was an electronic "broadcasting" system that assured that the correct parts and accessories for a given car will arrive at the proper place at exactly the right time. These codes when entered into the sytem caused all this to happen. When all this was talking place you have to realize this was all new to the workers and I am sure there were many skeptics who thought this would take their jobs. Computers back then were thought to be a fad that would never last.

Thanx much for the info. I thought it had a vinyl top. You can tell that it has been recently painted in almost the exact place where the vinyl top should be. I was not shure if they were trying to fix some rot at the upper windshield molding area or at the lower of the rear window. What threw me off is that under the weatherstrip on the drivers door there is some green, almost a forest color. Well I guess thet sums that up. I work at a GMC medium duty dealership and whenever new stock units come in that I have to "P.D.I" (pre dilevery inspection) I take the build sheet and tuck it under the seat. Most people just throw them out. I realise that a 2007 Top Kick or C6500 aint the same as a new camaro, but reguardless someone might find it useful in the future. Thanx Matt
