I have a 1978 Elcamino SS that came from the factory with a right side kick panel with mounts for a removable waste basket. I am trying to find a good replacement basket and panel if available. If you have any information on a reproduction, the RPO or the GM part number for these pieces, I would be very grateful. Thank you for any help you can give.

The RPO was D24, and it cost $7.50. It was only available in the 78-79 El Camino, Malibu, and Monte Carlo. Good luck finding one.

Wonder if 77 & up RWD Caddy is the same? My 85 Fleetwood coupe has one. If I get a chance I'll see if the kick panel fits or at least if the basket lines up with the panel in my 78 elky.

Thank you very much 87ElCamino. Using the RPO number D24, a quick call to the dealer led to the conclusion that this part #20183502 (paint to match) is no longer available. GM called it a litter container and discontinued the part in 1988. My dealer source checked his parts locator and turned up none available in N.O.S. I guess I'll have to seach the junkyards till I find one. If I can't find one, then perhaps I can have it remade in fiberglass by another guy I know.
