I have a 1978 el camino that i want to put 18" Irocs on and i was looking to put a good ride height on it as well, i was thinking about droping the el camino 2 inches but the i rembered that a while back ago i was told that a 78 el camino cant use drop spendils because i something being in the way that would have to be modded, something like that, so what is the best way to drop a 78 into a good stance or if it was your el camino and you were putting these wheels on it what would you do to the suspension? thanks.............................Antonio

Use lowering springs.

Eibach makes a good kit. I used this exhaust kit but it is not bolt-in and requires some modification:

So, am I the only one running 15" rims and 50 series tires?

I need to figure out how to post a pic here.
Maybe I'm showing my age, but the farm wagon size wheels and jacked up chassis just baffle me, I cannot see the attraction in them.

Lowered with Eibach springs and 50 series tires, puts my Caballero nice and low without any expensive modifications. Even nearly stock it seems to handle about as well as my old 70 Firebird Formula.

Just made a run to Phoenix from the Reno area, non-stop on the way down, mostly about 85-90 MPH between towns.
No way I would be comfortable doing that with a jacked up ride.
