I'm in Norway, by the Sognefjord(the worlds longest and deepest,by the way).
It's cool to see that there are more european members around her. I've seen swedes, dutch, finns, germans and norwegians here, but not italians :) . That's cool.
Anyway, take advantage of the knowledge on this site, it's really amazing!

Hello, Hej, ciao, hallo, tere, me too from Finland. I'd like to visit many countries in Europe with my ElCamino, but latest fuel consumption was again 20 liter/100 km comparing to motorcycles average 6,8 l/100 km. Anyway I should once in the lifetime (try) top speed in Germany - as far as you are even there allowed to drive more than 130 km/h. Sweden, Estonia and Norway are realistic places to hit, perhaps even UK, Scotland one day? We'll see.

Hello,

Finnish, soon to be 1970 Elky owner... Can't wait it. 5-7 weeks and she'll be mine...:nanawrench:

It has been a very very long time since I had a 1971 Elky. And finally I got the Elky that I have dreamt from very first Elky that I had. It was 1972 model, all matte black, 350 cid with a PG. Next was 283 cid with a PG too. Now its 350 cid again, but with a TH350. Last login to this site was: 02-17-2005 at 07:33 PM. Well.. It's about time. :)

Nice looking '84 you got there. I was thinking about 5th generation elky for dailydriven before I saw an opportunity to grab my unicorn, '70 elky from ebay, which was in my budget. Sadly pick-up has been delayed the shipment and waiting for a news when they can get in a container and on the ship.

Really nice. Appart from 59 and 60, the 70 El Camino is deffinetely my favorite year. One of the good things about El Caminos is, that they´re still in a reasonable price range, compared to , for example, Chevelles and Impalas, from the same years. I hope for you that the shipping firm will get a move on, so you can have your car soon. Looking forward to see pictures.

Thanks. Just got news that my elky has been picked up from the seller and it's on her way to Florida to be shipped... :inlove:

I have noticed that '72 Elkys prices are on rise, since my previously owned '72 and '71 was pretty decent condition and they cost around little less than 3k€, now what I have seen in here Finland prices starts around 4k€ with v6! And I had V8...

And there aren't too many '70's on sale around here. Except some altered for dragracing... So, I bought one from the Ebay. :)

DDD, do you mean 68's in Finland? Not that many. Mostly 72's in here. And in a sidenote, my '70 has arrived in Florida, in shipping company and she is waiting to be shipped. Got few better pictures and seems to be straight sides, but couple of rust holes in each side. I was expecting that, since the price was low. Nothing bad though. I guess first summer goes by just driving and joying it. I'll keep you all posted. Cheers, Lemmy

Hi!
One more german guy from the center of Europe: BOCHUM.
I own my Elky since 1995.
It is a true SS396 from 1968. Engine is a 454 LS6 with a lot of goodies around.
Tranny is a modified TH400. Rear end is 12 bolt Posi-equipped. New flowmasters on a 3" exhaust.
I love my car for its brutal sound and the neverending torque. When I put the pedal to the medal I cut off parts of the street and the feeling adrenalizes me...
I think it is very close to good sex.

CHEERS!

Yikes, it has been slow year for us European owners...

Last summer went driving and attending Finnish cruising night's and bigger meetings around Finland. This year is going to be same, except we are driving up and down Finland on this summer vacation. That's about 800km straight line in one way. What are your plans?

cees klumper
05-06-2011, 02:19 PM
Well, here is another new member in Europe - Switzerland to be exact. I bought the 1973 El Camino that was in many episodes of 'My Name is Earl' a few years ago. So when I drive it around in Geneva or France, where we have a second home, I may get some looks of recognition, although not too many people see to have watched the show when it was on TV here.
I think we need to have another get-together sometime soon, like next summer? From the posts here, we should do it close to Finland (although, is any place close to Finland except Finland itself? :dontknow:

Transportation is being arranged, so it will take up to two months before she is here but when she is, I will post some pictures. It's a 454 and I can't wait to see what sort of power there is.

Thanks for the welcome - how I found the owner + car is a bit of a story. After the show got cancelled I was looking from time to time ("LFTTT") on the net to see if I could find out what had happened to it. Then late last year I found out - that it had been sold at auction (Mecum) and had brought something like $6,500. I found out too late obviously and was bummed at that. But I kept LFTTT and then, in february found out that the car had been sold once again at auction (Barrett Jackson), and that the price had gone up to $9,000 plus 10% buyer's commission. So this time I got closer but still no cigar. Finally, as I kept LFTTT, about two weeks ago I found a post on the G3GM forum where a member said a friend of his had bought the car. I sent him a PM, he put us both in touch, and it took us maybe 5 minutes to agree on a price. I figured this opportunity would not come knocking a fourth time so I better snap it up if I really wanted it. I am very much looking forward to getting the car here (remember I bought sight unseen, and have actually never driven in any El Camino) and maintaining and enjoying it for many years.

Just curious... How's the gas prices over there?

cees klumper
05-07-2011, 04:17 PM
Gas prices went up a lot since I moved to Switzerland end of '09. Now it's around CHF 1.90 per liter which, in US$ and gallon equivalent, should be around $6.70 per gallon if I did all the conversions right. Around half of that is government taxes.

The good news is distances tend to be shorter here.

Donny
A guy I know over here in England has a 67-68 with a blown 502. If you go on facebook and search for Krispy Kreme meet then there are hundreds of pics from the last 5+ years including this car flexing it's muscles. There's also a couple of my black on black 65.
Cheers, Rog.

Once again:
68´s are rare, though we have three of´em here in Bochum. Two SS 396 and a low-budget import last year (350/350).
In germany should be around 20 `68 Caminos.
I like the meeting in the netherlands (Hello Meikel :hail2: ). I visit this meeting each and every year since he started and I will be back in 2011 (tenth anniversary, right?)
So everybody from europe: take your car and come to Meijel!
