Ok you drag racers out there I'm looking for some advice on front tires and wheels. Next year I'm finally going to slicks at the track instead of using my street radials. I'm planning on using Hoosier Quik Time Pros LT 26/9.50-15 bias ply on the rear on 15X8 rims. I'm thinking of 15X4 rims on the front with 28.0x4.5-15 bias ply Hoosier Drag Tires. These will only be used on the strip, no street use at all. Will these fronts work ok or should I go with something else?

Just make sure those tires have an adequate load rating; I would think that your front end weighs at least 2000lbs, maybe more.

Good point, I haven't had it on a scale yet although that is in the plans. I was wondering what other things to consider when deciding on a front drag tire, outside diameter, etc.

By the way Mrapii, you were right about my cam being too big, I got a desktop Dyno and ran it with my present cam, the next size up and the next one down. The next one down gave the best results in HP and torque.

We use to run close to the same size (4x15 Centerlines) on the front of our '72 454 Vega, with 15.5 tires in the rear, I didn't like was at the end of the track where you turn off the track, it felt like the beads were going to let go! Other wise liked them. It was a lighter car, but still had a bb over the front wheels.

Is there a formula for picking fronts or is it trial and error?

8) I have a friend that used to run those front tires on his 69 Roadrunner with a 440. Just check to see what weights they are rated for to be safe.
