Hi. I've been looking at various sites trying to decide what springs to use upgrade my 78', 350/350 El Camino. At the time of rebuild I'm redoing all the bushings and wear items, adding Bilsteins, ect.
The problem is deciding which springs to use. The more I look at spring rates, free heights, load heights, the more confusing it becomes.
I just use mine as a cruiser, mostly around towm but some freeway driving also...no drag racing to speak of.
The ride does seem soft and mushy, especially when cornering.
I don't want to lower it much, I'd rather leave it at close to the stock height.
Anybody have any reccommendations to offer and reasoning or experience to go with the reccommendation.
Thanks.

I looked around for quite a while, and finally went with BB springs with a 2" drop from OPGI for my '77 350/200-4R...

I wanted to keep the 30 year old saggy look, but get a nice firm ride.

However, it looks like I may be parking the Camino for quite some time, and probably won't have any time to install the springs, bushings, front end kit, gears or posi for many months... :(

Also supposed to be stiffer, but I really do not feel much difference.
With the 50/15 tires the car is pretty low, not a pavement scraper, but clearly not stock.
"B" body spindles are supposed to lower the front even more, so I should end up with a nice rake.

When I rebuilt my 1987 I used Moog springs from a S-10 - part# 5660. These give a stock ride height but are much firmer than the stock springs. Another good choice if you want stock rated springs is the Moog 5608 - this is the Heavy Duty El Camino / Monte Carlo SS spring. The 5660's are around $60 per pair at pepboys, while the 5608 is around $10 more.
