Ive just picked up my 65 El camino here in the UK. I traced the history and it was imported two years ago by a trusted Hot Rod guy here in th UK.
Drove it home 160 miles with no trouble.
Im of on a christmas road trip and have found a couple of wiring problems. I have no stop lights , so i checked the switch and its good . I assume that the switch should have a live running to it but both wires are dead, Tried to trace the wires but they run into the main harness and i dont fancy cutting that open at the moment. Can i just run a live to the switch as a quick fix.
Also Wipers will only do one sweep when i switch the ignition on and they stick if im lucky they will come back down if i keep flicking the ignition on and off . The switch looks shot so i bypassed it but the problem remains.
Can anyone tell me 1 how do i get to the motor? . 2 Any idea what is going on and 3 If i get it working and the switch is shot can i just use an on/off switch untill i can import a replacement switch.
Great site by the way, ive just left the aircooled VW scene after 15 years and my El Camino is a total unknown at the moment so i reckon this place is going to save my ass in the future
Cheers
Neil
