I'm getting ready to paint my 4th Gen and I want to paint the SS Stripes on it. I don't want to go with decals so can anyone with one of these sweet El's measure the thickness of the stripes for me? I also need the measurement of the distance between the two stripes. Oh... if I'm not asking too much... how about the size of the "SS" (height and length) THANKS SO MUCH !!! :)

You can order templates from most major places that sell Chevelle/El Camino parts.

Oh, those stripes. I totally forgot the 4th gen had stripes, for some reason I was thinking of the ones that are dual stripes on the hood like mine. I thought you were going to modify them to fit a 4th gen. Woops, my bad! :cry: :oops:

Yep! Your Elky is definatly a 4th generation El Camino. They ran from 1973 to 1977. 1978 on is the fifth Generation. It would be the second generation GMC Sprint, if it was a GMC.
