I have a 1982 el camino
when i tried to get front end aligned the could not because of to much play in steering .When i replaced lower ball joint it turns out the spindle is worn badly.Does anybody now where i can purchase new spindles. i would rather not get used from junk yard but i also would not like to pay 200+ for each.
Any suggestions.

There is no moving parts on a spindle, if it's worn out someone neglected to grease the wheel bearings.

the lower ball joint connects the lower control arm to the spindle
Where hole in spindle that the ball joint goe int is worn out of round so no matter how tight the nut is(on lower ball joint top) there is still play i can see it when it is on the lift.

Sounds like somebody didn't tighten the nut enough and it's been that way for a while!!!
Nothing wrong with a used spindle, have your front end shop check it out closely for problems first though. Usually the only problems will be if the bearings went bad and siezed on the shaft or the threads for the hub nut get damaged. I'ts possible to get one that has a bent arm for the tie rod end but that can be checked too. Otherwise, as others said, new ones are available.

Thanks for the help
I got 2 used ones from junkyard 75$ for both
Cleaned and bead blasted them and they look perfect.
FYI
I got a hotcoat home powder coating system for about 130
How about red spindles ?.

Hi:
I have a similar problem with my front spindles - the wheel bearings are really loose and I can't tighten them even though I replaced them and the rotors. I am not thrilled with replacing the spindles with another old set of worn ones, but I can't seem to find any new replacements unless I go with dropped spindles. I'm not really interested in going that route.
So, does anyone know where I can get new stock spindles?
Thanks.

Almost all of the disc brake conversions offer a choice of either standard or dropped spindles. I would contact one of them.
That's cool - I thought that all of the disc brake conversions used either Beltech dropped spindles or used B-body / F-body spindles.
Any vendor recommendations? I am not looking to spend thousands on brakes / rotors, but any improvement over stock would be nice if not too $$$.

Hi Wiz,
When I got my '65 it had a Superior Spindles conversion kit already installed, but the p o hadn't changed the master cylinder. After looking around, superior had the best price for a power booster, dual M/C and proportioning valve combination. Their kit prices were reasionable, but I don't recall the price.
There are some links on the home page here, CCP I think is one that also offer quality kits in the $6-800 range. There are also a few vendors on ebay with kits in the same range.
Many thanks for the information - this kind of thing is what makes these boards great.
Regards,
