my 1982 el camino CHECK ENGINE light is NEVER illuminated. I have checked the bulb, and it is good.
The choke light and seatbelt light are the only "idoit lights" that come on when one turns the key to the on position.
Any advice?

1st make sure this is a compter controled vehicle. then locate a wire schematic and the computer. disconnect the computer and locate the wire from the check engine light to the computer conector. turn the key on and ground that wire at the conector. if the light comes on, then you could have a power or ground problem to the computer or a problem with the computer itself. if the light does not come on then there is a problem with the light circuit
