Hi all. A few days ago... Dec 27... I finally boight an El Camino. I have been wanting one for a long time, and I fanally bought one. It was an 84 El Camino with a corvette engine, that's all the dealer could tell me. After I bought it, I ran the vin for my insurance, and it came back as an 84 GMC Caballero. There are no caballero or el camino badges or emblems. There are two emblems with the dual flags. The steering wheel and dash say chevrolet. I still haven't checked the engine year, but it looks to be a LT1. I changed some fuses and got the tail lights and dash lights working again. Hood light still isn't working yet. Cigar lighter isn't working. Wiper wasn't working, but moved them by hand a few times and they do now, had to replace the blades. Mister on wipers was working yesterday, but isn't now. Cruise control doesn't work, but I don't think I'd use it. One of the brights is busted, I plan on changing all headlights to 9003 halogens. Tail lights look like from recent chevy 1500, still looking for pic of origional tail to be sure... all I'm finding is lights in the bumper pics, but my bumper is chrome, lights are on sides of tailgate. It runs great and drives great. I hope to borrow a camera and get some pics on soon.

You got yourself a customized(frankenstein) elky there, at least they picked a good engine. Probably a lot more money invested in it than you realize.

I've always wondered what a 5th gen would look like with "normal" tail lights beside the tailgate. So the bumper doesn't even have the holes?

No, there are no holes in the bumper, It's a solid piece with the two verticle rubber blocks. I'm still trying to get some pictures, hopefully will have soon.

Thursday, the bolts that hold on the upper control arm on the passenger side broke, went from | to \. Luckily the broke in my driveway right before I pulled onto the highway. I put some temporary bolts in and brought it to a front end shop to get alignment redone, and to check the other side and do a general inspection to make sure nothing else major breaks this week (week 2 since I bought it.) Hopefully the headlights I ordered will be in this week, and I can wire up my h4 conversion.
