Hey all-

In the next 3 weeks or so I am going to rip off the manifolds and airpump off of my 84 camino and replace it with some hedman headers. Eventually I am going to take off the electric quad and replace it with either a stage I quad or a Holley carb with a stand alone distributor. Anywho- I dont plan on doing this all at once though. If I take out the o2 sensor from the manifold and just leave it off the new headers (not make a hole) would that effect anything other than just the check engine light coming on. (in terms of carb fuel delivery.) Thanks

Yes the computer will think the motor is running lean and try and richen it up. Way up. Not sure what you can do to fool the computer.

It's probadly not going to be very drivable. Just don't install the headers until you are ready to take it off the computer.

Really? man, I didnt think it had the capability to do that. BLAST! I guess I will have a hole made in the new headers for the O2 sensor. Then I guess plug it or something when I rip it off. Thanks anyways. :mad:

with the o2 disconnected the check engine light will come on and the computer will remain in open loop operation, and will judge fuel calculations from the map and thottle position sensors. may run a little richer with higher emissions, but i would think the car should perform ok

Yeah- At one point my dad forgot to put back the o2 sensor after changing plugs (WITHOUT ME!) and the connector laid up and melted against the air pipe on the manifold It took me two days to figure it out because after about 5 minutes running the check Engine light would come on. It ran normally- except for the light. I will still pull it and do some test runs to make sure she is ok before I put headers on and leave it off for good. How much do you guys think I can steal a non-electronic quadrajet from a junkyard for??
