I'm parting my '84 because the frame is complete junk, and the A-pillars are also rotted out. I really wanted to keep a lot of stuff to swap to my '79; but money may talk louder than my desires. It was a 229 V6, non-AC, and the engine/tranny are now gone, having been swapped into my '83 Bu wagon. It had no gages but I have lots of gage panels if that'what you really need. Body color was white while interior was maroon. Has decent 50-50 split bench seats and I'm keeping the inner seat mounts :? The front clip is NOT perfect; driver's fender has a sorta crumple, but the whole front end clip is otherwise straignt enough for a daily driver. While I really wanted the rear quarters for my '79, I may never find the gumption to actually swap them so as I sed, money talks. Rear bumper is fairly straight but not perfect..... NOTHING on this truck was "perfect" but it was a pretty good-looking daily driver till I realized the frame was about to crack apart on the highway.

So what do you need, and what do you offer? Dash pad is not perfect since it has at least one crack. As I sed, NOTHING was perfect but overall, it was good nuff that at the time, I bought if as a daily driver for a cupla years of service. The on-going frame rot has put that idea to bed :-(

I'm in southwestern Connecticut and have other A/G-body body parts like fenders, hoods, etc.

Just got home.

The '84 only had idjit lights but I do have several other gage clusters; will have to look at them tonight and see in what shape they are. What color would you prefer? I don't have a gage housing in maroon; those are really hard to find, in my experience. They can be painted with SEM but I don't know exactly what shade to get. I've painted some plastic trim with SEM and it comes out pretty nice, as long as it's prepped properly beforehand.

Also, the '84 was NON-AC so it doesn't have AC vents. But the whole dash is available although the pad does have one or two cracks. it's otherwise in good shape.

I also have a tan dash and idjit light cluster from my '79 (I swapped in another dash); IIRC, it has the sweep speedo. It's not in really good condition, has several cracks on the top and may be missing or have broken trim, would have to look at it again if anyone's innerested. Can't recall whether it still has the harness, think so, but I did swap the fuse box over to the other dash I put my '79 along with some of the terminals. I have the proper replacement terminals, tho, so could replace those if needed.

..... I have lots of gage panels if that'what you really need.

Hmmm.... wonder what happened to them all, could only find one. It's dark blue, believe it came out of an '84 MC, and unfortunately, is only driver's quality, if that. The PC board has lots of lifted traces and needs repair. The gage housing itself isn't real bad but obviously housed several bulbs that got pretty warm (although the bulb holders will still fit and lock into place). And there's a 1" x 1/4" chip missing from the front lower right corner at that mounting screw. You wouldn't notice that since the bezel fits over the front of the gage housing, and it's down underneath.

The matching bezel has the rectangular cutout on the right side for defroster switch. I believe this came from an '84 MC LS, so that's what the woodgrain pattern should match but I can't be certain.

To make it usable, I'll have to glue the traces back on the plastic substrate (Superglue is reputed to work pretty well for this) then reassemble it with gages, including a speedo. I don't think I have another speedo with odometer but would have to look. I have one '86-'87 tach but am keeping that, so would put in a clock (which probly doesn't work, but I could try to clean it and get one working). So we're talking about me doing 3-4 hours of repair/reassembly.

You'd get the gage housing with repaired circuit board; gages; clock (unknown whether it'd be working); a headlight switch with bracket; as much of the original hardware as I can find (and can probly find almost all, or all, of it); green turn signal lens and the plastic tube for turn signals; all the lamp holders (no bulbs). In other words, it should be ready to swap in. Oh.... also the 3-speed tranny gear indicator with wire/clip. $75 plus shipping.

I don't need the dash just the speedo. also to be honest I only need the needles for the four gauges in the center (oil, temp, fuel, volt). I have the circle speedo too not the sweeping type. If I HAVE to buy the four gauges in the center i guess i could. let me know what you have, mechanically they need to work well but the faces are not a huge concern, I'll be making them white face. thanks

Will have to look but am sure I have several spare speedos; dunno whether any have an odometer, though. Also have several gage sets, but I'm not gwan try to take off the needles, you'll hafta buy the whole set of four for, say, $20 + shipping from 06776.

The doors are only driver quality; they do have rust on the inside but I don't rember how bad, will hafta look in the daylight. Which bumper? I have the front but it has a slight twist at the end. I'm saving the rear for my '79, which came with a Class I trailer hitch WELDED to it

No cowl hoods but have both the '84's stock one and a stock '80 'Bu hood available, as well as a stock '81-'88 Cutlass/ Regal hood.

Also have a good-shape Regal pass side door with power winder, no inside panels.

Also have two Regal tailights, dunno what years, one for each side and they ARE NOT the same

Think I also have a pair of Regal reverse lights, no idea what year.

Have some other A/G-body sheet metal, will have to check what it all is.

Yes, do have the heater box and controller w/cables. Will PM you tomorrow after I check them out (make sure there's no cracks, etc.). Heater core is NG, however, I rember. If you need, I can buy a new heater core locally and install (Autozone), and include the receipt for warranty purposes but would be easier/possibly cheaper for you to buy your own new heater core. Dunno shipping but I will ship cheapest way possible. I don't ever charge boxing materials since I get those from work for free. I pack Schtuffs like I'd like to receive Schtuffs: solidly with little possibility of damage (other than the shipper dropping an engine on the damb box).

What you didn't mention, now that I think of it, is whether you also need the interior heating ducting. Please let me know but that's also available.

Please rember that you can't simply bolt in a non-AC heater box in the place of a previously-AC box; they have different firewall hole cutouts and the ducting is different. What I would include would be the ducting but whether it'll bolt in place properly, I dunno. You will likely also have to change your center dash heater outlet trim pieces, which I also have from the '84. But I don't know, nor have, any specific pieces to actually do the conversion from AC to non-AC, other than what's in this non-AC machine.

There are places that have firewall adapter plates but I don't have one, just the non-AC heater system itself.

Thanks for the reply, I can get a heater coil here as easy and can do doubt fab an adapter for the hole, right now I have a sheet of alum over it so I can drive it. It would need to be shipped to Evergreen, CO 80439, so , how much for the box, controls and cables, ducts, dash plate and shipping.

I critically looked at the doors and while they're driver's quality, they do have the beginnings of severe rust on the bottom inside edges and several places on the outside skin. Also, the PO installed a set of mirrors that I suspect are '86-'87 style. To do that, he drilled new holes through the door skin but didn't do anything about the original holes  The doors need the correct mirrors and the new holes patched. And you'd have to do some semi-serious work on the bottoms of both doors to stop the rusting. I don't think they're worth more than $50 each, as they stand.

Front bumper is good except the bottom edge of the driver's side was apparently pulled out what looks like about 1/2". Hard to see unless you stand above each edge and look down, then you see the extra space at the bottom compared to the bumper filler panels.

I'm keeping the rear bumper for my '79 but it's not worth a lot, either, since it's slightly twisted and the inner bumper support is rotted (but the bumper, itself, isn't). My '79's rear bumper has a Class I hitch WELDED to it.... uglily 8O

By "good", I presume you mean undented and undinged? Don't got, sorry. While the '84's isn't too bad, it's WAY better than the twisted, banged-up stuff that's on my '79 so I'm keeping it :-(

No, sorry. But the El Camino Store has advertised them for something like $5.95 with the screw. Haven't ever ordered one myself, though.

and also hows the drivers side floor?

Not good, but not pinholed, either. There are definitely rust holes through the rear floorpan behind the driver's seat but in front, is OK although some spots of rust.

mine is rusted out some and instead of just sheetmetal i'd prefer to patch it with the correct floor section

I doubt you'd be very happy with what I could offer :-( It's not entirely gone or even pinholed but it sure ain't solid, either.

I'm changing my '79 from its original tan color to the '84's maroon color; that's why I earlier mentioned that very little of the interior trim pieces would be available. So no, I don't have those available, sorry.

But the entire dash is available as I'm not using it. It has a sorta crunched portion right in the center in the top behind where the middle-mounted speaker would go. If anybody's innerested, I'll get pix. It's available with the whole wiring harness.

The upper stuff (ceiling/roof) is mainly OK but the lower stuff is UV-deteriorated to the point of crumbling. I will positively NOT sell anyting that I don't deem worthy (unless you want it that way). So merely ask about the specific pieces you need, and I'll absolutely dexcribe them as best I can. I can also e-mail pix.

I also now have the non-tilt column from my '83 Bu wagon, with steery wheel. It's in good driver shape, definitely not show shape.

Thanks!

Do you have the little piece of plastic trim that goes across the bottom of the steering wheel. Its an inverted V with chrome like stripe on it. I think mine was a gold stripe, but its missing now.

79Elky
01-28-2007, 05:41 PM
No, sorry. And the steering wheel is sold, in any case.

As for that trim piece: the ONLY car I've EVER seen ALL of that piece still in the steery wheel was my fullsized '88 Crapice wagon, when I first got it back in '99. And it was broken at that time. Over the years, it's broken a cupla more places and a piece has fallen out and gotten lost. Oh well.

I don't even know whether you could get that piece out of the wheel in one piece, nor how to do it.
