: anyone here from Iowa, Nebraska and the Dakotas?
jimmy74 11-07-2003, 07:55 PM Hi
I'm Jim, from Iowa. I just joined about a weekago. I saw that no one has posted here, so i figured i would. I just purchased my 1st elky 3 weeks ago at a auction in nebraska. A 65, i'm hoping to have it restored before this summer. i gave $250 for it, its pretty solid, just a little rust at the lower 1/4s. Its going to need the full work over, body, paint, interior, motor, trans. it will be fun. I work as a tech for Automotive Electric in Waterloo, so if anyone has any electrical, fuel injection or computer control questions i might be able to help.
Have a nice day :)
ElkySS 11-08-2003, 09:33 AM Welcome to ECC/NECOA, Jim! I hope you find other owners in your region.
Good luck with the '65.
futekmek 11-20-2003, 07:29 PM Hi, My name is Mark. I'm an El Camino owner from Iowa of less than a month.
I've wanted an El Camino for years, and I started talking about it with my aunt. Well, she bought it for me, I'll pay her after college. I didn't know she was going to buy it; it showed up in my garage when I went home one weekend. It's a 1974 350 V8, blue with a white stripe/hood. She's a beauty.
Hi, all.
jimmy74 11-20-2003, 10:42 PM Hey Mark, I'm Jim. I live about 20 miles west of waterloo. Which part of Iowa are you from? I just got my elky last month also, hopefully yours does'nt need as much work as mine. I helped my dad redo an elky around the same year as yours, but that was some time ago. This thing was rotted out bad. we replaced the floor boards with metal we cut from junk hoods. We also graphed metal we cut from a pair of front fenders to repair the metal around the wheel openings on the rear 1/4s. It sure sounds crude, but when it was done it looked great. But i'm not sure how long it lasted because dad sold it a couple of weeks later. Well any way, welcome and hope you enjoy your new elky :)
ElkySS 11-21-2003, 07:27 AM Mark,
Welcome to ECC! Good luck with your Elky. Sounds sweet.
SS Elky 12-06-2003, 01:31 PM Hey guys, welcome to this site! 8-) Another Iowan checking in!
Snuffy 12-09-2003, 05:30 PM I'm Steve. I'm an ELKaholic. I mean, I live in Nebraska. Going to SCC in Milford (for anyone thats heard of it). I've owned my 1985 El Camino SS since i was 16. GREAT FIRST CAR. In the middle of my Sophmore year at high school a drunk driver ran a stop sign and cleaned the nose up (or off). I worked on it for 2 years. I did all the body work, prep., and paint myself at my Dad's body shop.( Under the watchful eyes of my father) It was a great learnung experience.

leichler 02-17-2004, 04:03 PM Yo from Bull Town (Kalona)! I'm driving my second EC, click on http://elcaminocentral.com/users/ikeselky/
The prior one was a '77with no guts and lots of rust. It's currently residing in the Quad cities. New owner's uncle owns a bone yard. Mother has an '83 in the garage that has never been in the rain or snow. Only things not original are made of rubber plus the battery. I start it up and run it every month. Some day I'll have to refill the gas tank.
Welcome to EC Central!!!
:D
PS The management of this organization is looking for someone interested in becoming a regional director. Contact John Harris, email at

Al87Olathe 03-08-2004, 05:33 PM Any one going to the Lincoln Swap Meet this weekend with 5th Generation parts? I'm coming up from Kansas City and have a booth in the Ag Hall near the southwest corner with all the F**d literature, '40 Ford and T-bird parts. I'm looking for some odds and ends, especially a center A/C vent and a factory AM/FM with clock.
Wahoo/Yutan, NE was my home until 7 years ago. I was really active in the car club in Wahoo that put on the car shows and swap meets in the '80s-'90s.

Hi all,
DUG here, born and raised in Waterloo, but stationed on the west coast for the last 20+ years. Still have my 1st car, a 67 Chevelle and I just bought my brothers 66 El Camino. I'll be returning in April to pick it up and bring it home. It was an original CA to begin with, so it will fit right back in. Needs the interior freshened up and some paint, but the driveline is fresh and ready to go. 396 with a muncie, 10 bolt with a locker, buckets, console and factory gauges. He was stationed close by when he bought the car; it was a leaky 305, bench seat, 3 on the tree then. I've already bought a new trailer (needed it anyway) and made room in the garage. I can't wait for spring break!............................................ .......................DUG

John Harris 01-30-2011, 10:04 AM Region 11 of NECOA covers the the states of Iowa, Nebraska, and both North and South Dakota. The position of Regional Director is presently vacant. Today there are 121 registered members living in this region, of whom 30 are active posters on ECC with more than 10 posts each.
We are considering changing our organizational structure to let each state have its own Deputy Director, in order to make it easier for events to be planned closer to where members live.
Some of the top posters in this Region include: speedy86 ; archerm3 ; donaldta ; dpotter ; Ugly Elko ; jimmy74 ; Al87olathe ; ALAsh ; and elcaminothepathway. Perhaps these individuals can help us get this vacancy filled in the upcoming weeks.
If members living in this region are interested in helping NECOA grow by planning local events and gatherings -- or would like to recommend someone for this -- please contact me or any of the officers of NECOA by Private Message. You can also discuss this topic either by a posting in the Region 11 forum or gathering in the ECC Chat Room.
Best regards, John Harris, NECOA National Director
