Has anyone used the Mother's Powerball that polishes aluminum yet? I'd love to hear some reviews before wasting money on a bad product.

I bought and used the mini one a few months back. I have a bit of chrome and billet under the hood, so I'm always polishing. At any rate, I tried it on a billet aluminum battery cover, used in conjunction with Autosol paste. This piece had no scratches, and still had a decent shine, but I wanted it perfect. Well, when done, I wasn't that impressed with the job it did. It left super fine scratches, so I had to redo it with a cotton flannel buff to remove the scratches. I think the product would do well if your trying to bring back a somewhat dull or neglected piece. But for really bright finish work, it's not as good as a buff. That's my take on it.

I don't like it, left swirl marks and was very unweildy. It didn't fit into tight spaces at all. I hear the Flitz is better but haven't used it.

Polishing by hand is really no big deal but if you want to go a machine route buy some polishhing bobs to attach to a drill, they come in all sorts of different shapes for all possible places to polish. Check out this site, excellent info! http://www.caswellplating.com/buffs/buffman.htm

I've owned both. I first tried the Powerball - both large one and Mini, and was very unhappy with the results.

I then tried the Flitz, and it is head and shoulders above the Powerball. I was fortunate to get rid of the Powerball to friends who wanted to try them, so at least I wasn't stuck with them.

I've found that the Flitz works best, when attached to a air system, and you can just keep going & going. The Powerball left small scratches, and wouldn't get in that small of an area.
