im still here, after paying IRS and a few bill collectors things are looking up again.Weather is turning real nice again which is a change for the better. Now this brings me to a question for our Elky gurus. My son thinks he has carte blanche to my Elky.He took it out twice while i was sleeping, one time he run the side ever so slightly against the white fence and now has a line of paint on the side.

Does any one here know how to install a very simple kill switch that can be hidden some where in the inside of the car.Ive told my son not to take it any more while i sleep but somehow i dont trust him.I dont think i want to alarm it ,i just want a kill switch for my 85 elky.

any and alll help will be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Still checking in from time to time-my account is not working properly so I don't get email notifications....I'm up near Eureka 64 bigblock.....Tried to start it today, been probably 3 months, almost turned over, dead battery dammit.

Bamboo- you can wire in a kill switch to the starter solenoid off the back of your ignition switch pretty easily, but if your son can figure out how to jump between the starter solenoid and the battery terminal on the starter he can still get it started. If that's the case you'll need to install a master disconnect switch on the battery.

New to Nor-Cal here and new to the forum. I do want a 78-87 Elky, but I'll try for any 78-87 Gbody at the right price once funds become available. Montes are my favorite and have had several of them over the years. But when I see all the El Caminos around town every day I want one.

I'm in Redding. 66, 350 4sp, 2-70 A/C, old paint, terrible interior, but love it to death. Had it since 1989, just got it running this summer, it had been in storage for 7 years. Boy, does that ruin things! No pics on computer, but looks similar to pix of graffix 65, similar yellow, although my paint isn't what it was in the 80's ! ! Will update with pix soon, AC

Got a '64 (http://elcaminocentral.com/gallery-album_6-banger-to-go.html) with the original 230 c.i six cylinder with a 3 speed on the column that's my daily driver, and a '65 that I'm fixin' to get back on the road here shortly, that has a 300 hp 350 wit a mild cam and headers, backed with a saginaw 4 speed that came out of a late 70's camaro.Don't know how fast it goes cause the speedo only goes upto 120 .........(click on the '64 above for link to pics )...

I am cruisin in Roseville/Granite Bay with my '68. Good 20/20 car: 20 MPH or 20 feet away and it looks good :-) But hey with a 402 BBC and a HR296 cam and 3" exhaust it is a LOT of fun. Except for the 8 MPG around town part :-(

Regarding local shows... there is some amount of show at the Downtown Tuesday Nights in Roseville. Check out old town Roseville for a number of cars. I went a couple weeks ago and there were a couple of El Caminos and a number of Chevelles.

Bring the family too. The more attend our 50th Anniversaries around the nation, the more recognition the Chevy El Camino will have. Remeber boys & girls, this is the last golden anniversary for the '50s era. So it is our time to shine, our mement in history. We can make this happen! So come out in massive numbers and show the world America's Favorite Pickup.

Happy New Year to all from the El Caminos Club of Bakersfield. Man, we rocked in the new year wih LA Grange Tribute to ZZ Top band. These guys were awesome! Lacy Marie, the dancer, was hot that night and Jerimiah Roiko band opened the night with some serious jams. This how it is done - BIG. We will post pictures & video as soon as they can be compiled and loaded up on http://www.eelcaminosclub.com (http://www.eelcaminosclub.com/). This was just a taste of the entertainment we have planned at the 50thh Anniversary Celebration, Oct 31-Nov 1, 2009 so get onboard and register for the show. RRL

I'm in the Concord area and I have an 85 that used to have a 4.3 Liter V6 and now sports a 3.8 Litre SFI Turbo V6 hence the "LC2" in my screen name. I picked it up in Sonoma County at a thrift store for $995 back in 2003 and just recently got her running with the fresh drivetrain.

I love going to meets! The local Turbo Buick club does a monthly meeting at specific place each month on the same day in Milpitas. It's more or less a central location but people come from as far south as Santa Cruz and as far north as Sonoma County and and north east as the Brentwood area. I don't mind driving.

I know during the summer time they have car shows every Fri afternoon at the Sun Valley Mall parking lot in Concord on Willow Pass Rd just off of 680. That might not be a bad place. I have only been to one meeting at John's Burger in Livermore back in 2005 or so. I didn't even have my car with me though.
