Hello all,
As a new member, without an ElCamino I hope to learn more about the one model of Chevy that I DID NOT have as a young man. Since I have owned a 64 Chevelle SS (in 1970) I have admired the El Camino. The past year or so I have been looking for a 60's El Camino driver, not a show car. I hope to learn more and possibly find an El Camino in my price range.

Hey Dave - Welcome to the club. I too am a newbie to El Caminos and this club. Just got my 82 Conquista in late September. Found it locally and in real nice shape. Getting lots of "thumbs up" with it. My brother found a one owner 81 in early summer down in Chambersburg. So there are nice ones to be found in the state at reasonable prices. Most I saw for sale in the car corral at Fall Carlisle were in the $6500 range. I paid half of that. What part of PA are you in?

Hey Jim, I live 25 mi SW of Wilkes Barre, PA. Since you live in Camp Hilll I will ask you if you saw the ElCamino for sale on I81 almost at the PA line. On Oct 5 as I was heading soutn I noticed this El Camino sitting in a field on the left (Northbound side) that I wanted to look at. As I was coming home 4 days later it was dark and I did not see it? Just wondering??
The price that you paid for your El Camino is aslo my price range.

Dave - no, sorry. I have not been down I-81 in that area for about two years. I just got done looking at the classifieds in the Harrisburg paper and none listed there this week. A few weeks ago there were a couple, but both were 5th Gen as I recall. I'll keep my eyes and ears open and if any in your year(s) show up I'll let you know.

Most I see on the road around here are 5th Generation. Did see a black and silver 82 for sale on Rt. 30 about 2 miles west of Gettysburg about a month ago - no price and no phone number. Guess he wanted company and wanted a knock on the door.

Be patient - the right one is out there for you.

Jim

Hi
i think anything 60-69, around a $5-6000 price tag will probably be a builder or something that just isnt you. your best bet would be to get something with a decent body and frame and build it yourself. that way you will get what you want. I just bought my 65 3 weeks ago at an auction for $250. It will be a long road ahead, but it will be fun. :)

Welcome, everyone!

You can use this site to look for anything, including El Caminos:

http://www.collectorcartraderonline.com/adsearch.html

You can restrict searches to East/SE/USA/etc.

There is a running '68 in Mechanicsburg, PA on this site. $2500. Don't know how much restoration you are willing to do.

Good luck,

Have you tried Ebay? Although a lot of guys here don't care for the "EvilBay" I did just recently buy (for my son) an 86 Trans Am through it, I purchased it locally, so I had a chance to go look at it before I bid on it. Maybe there's a 60 close to you up for auction that you can go take a look at. There's usually on the average 60+ Elkys (of various years) listed there up for auction.
