Hi folks, been a lurker here for a long time and have owned 2 El Caminos in the past. Well, yesterday I bought a '77 on ebay so I thought I ought to say Hi.

Her's a link to the listing:

I guess I'll be spending some time here from now on.

Thanks guys, I'm hoping it's as rust-free as I think it is. I'm going to look at/maybe pick-up a parts car this weekend. If it's worth it, I'll trailer it home before the project car even gets here from Nevada. Once it gets here, I'll figure out what to do with the both of them.

Hey Camino LS6 - welcome to the 4th gen insanity..!!

That '77 looks to be a good, solid car and a good starting point for a project. Great idea on getting that second parts car too....

Good luck with it, and keep us posted on your progress with lots of pics.... 8-)

Just curious - how much is it costing you to ship the Elky from Nevada?

Hi Bob! We've been waiting for you to show up! OK, maybe that is stretching it some but it's good that you have! Welcome to NECOA/ECC. I gather your other is also a 4th generation Elky too.

That one looked to be in about "normal" condition for a 30 year old vehicle. Some parts will be pretty easy to find and some will be very difficult to find... That Trim on the sides, that is a Mutha to try to locate in any decent shape and the trim around the wheel wells is also a buggar, even impossible to locate.

The hood, well that happened to not only the El Caminos, the Malibus, the Monty Carlos but the Pick Up trucks also, so whatcha gonna do! Dash well, once again it's a fact of life, that is gone in anything that has not been in a tomb for the last 30 years.

We look forward to seeing your project progress and really, the finished product. Good Luck with it and have Fun!

Thanks Pete!

The parts car (another two-tone '77) should cover most of the parts you mentioned - I should know this afternoon. The big question is how much,if any rust the car has. I won't know until it gets here, but I am optimistic based on what I could see in the pics.

mayhem: It cost me $925.00 to get the shipping done (ouch). But, for a trip from Nevada to PA I guess that's not too bad. Should be here in 6-7 days.
