Hello out there.
I have always wanted a camino, and have found one i am thinking of purchasing. I was just hoping to get a little advice on what this car is worth.
It is a 1967 with a 327 small block. the body is in good shape. there is no obvious damage and the car runs well. the paint is in pretty good shape as well. there are a few minor problems such as the wipers, heater, turn signals, and one door handle are not working.
anyhow, the asking price is $5400. Can anyone give me some input into whether or not this is a reasonable price. I think that it probably is, but I have such little experience that I am not sure. Any feedback you have would be great.
Thanks.

If the car is as nice as you say then $5,400.00 is not to bad. If you search completed items on Ebay you will see that most 67's go from around $4,000-9,000 and some even higher. I'd offer $5,000.00 and use the other $400.00 to freshen up all those minor issues. However it's hard to say with out seeing pics. If I were you I would bring a second set of eyes with you that may have a little more experience. It's always nice to have some one else to help point out potential issues. Just my .02

Early Camaros are known for rear frame rail rust. You should check this out closely, the area over the diff. and where the shocks attach. Also scan the body for repairs, use a magnet and look for bondo field in the lower fenders quarters and rockets. These car where also known for rust at the dash board base near the windshield and the panel between the deck lid and rear window. If the body is good the other stuff is easy.

If it's as nice as you claim than the asking price is not to out of line. Like as been said it's hard to say without seeing it and location plays a big part in the price. I have two 67 el caminos, the one I'm building and another I picked up for it's big block and other parts. Both of these had some of the same problems, mainly rust. The places to look are rear quarters, lower front fenders behind the wheel, inner rockers, floors along with the base of the windsheild and rear window. In fact I have never seen a 67 that did not have at least a little rust. My parts elky was really bad, the previous owner had repaired most of the visable rust so the passenger side looked good but the driver side from the door back was completely gone and the bed had holes rusted through.
My intent was to take the 396 and tranny along with a few other parts for my other 67 and then put the 283 out of the other in it and use it as a beater parts chaser. Well when I got it home I crawled and the frame was almost gone, you could out your finger throw the frame so it's off to the crusher as soon as the snow goes.
Also check the body mounts they also tend to rust. The good news is that they are finally starting to make replacement panels for the 67. When I did the rust repair on mine, no one was making panels so mine all had to be had formed. Most of the problems you list are minor and easily fixed so I wouldn't worry there. Hope I didn't discuraage you to much. I just don't want to see someone get in over their head as I did. But I'm glad I did as now I know my every square inch of my elky.
Well this is a bit long so good luck and if you buy it have fun with it. After all that's what they are built for and welcome to the club.

Early Camaros are known for ... Mike

Its an El Camino Mike.

Just check it out really good. Wrap a magnet on some thin cloth and go over the body, especially along the rocker panels. What you'll look for is the magnet to loose it's grip. If it does then it's got Bondo and it it completely lets go, it's a bunch of bondo. Some can be expected and it's not bad. If it's significant then the magnet won't hold on. Use a small or light enough magnet that it's not huge. The cloth keep you from scratching the paint up.

If the Elky is in good shape it's worth 5000. A 327 is a good motor, hopefully that hasn't been bored on too much over the years. GM has started making the 327 again. It's now called the 5.3 Liter but it is essentially the same displacement as the 327.

I like the 67 models a lot, good body style, good dash layout and just a really nice little cruiser.
