The rockers don't get torqued, you adjust the lash.
Here's a very detailed read that should help you out.

You adjust your rockers to get zero lash, in other words no slop between the hydraulic lifters and the push rods. On a running engine Ive done it the messy way, with the engine idling and warm, slowly loosen a rocker arm until it starts "clacking"..then slowly turn it back until the clacking stops, then go 1/4 turn more (some say 1/2)...do each rocker the same way. Be warned, unless you get some of those deflectors that cover the oil holes in the rockers, be prepared to have very oily headers/manifolds and oil on your garage floor :o

This method is not recommended if you don't have the deflectors. It can cause a fire, I know this from personal experience. It is generally better to use the other way.

I've done it the messy way and as a mechanic showed me. I took a piece of cardboard cleaned it of and stuck it on the cylinder head and high enough to deflect oil shooting out everywhere...Very effective and not that messy!

I took an old chevy valve cover & cut a slot in the top of it. Easy access & no mess. --- Jon
