Just as the subject states, is anybody located near Longview, WA? I'm there and just picked up a '76 GMC Sprint SP. Looking for a few interior and exterior trim parts.

Hi Charles:

I'm in Sedro-Woolley, WA.! What parts are you looking for? There are a few '73 - '77 Elkys in the junk yards around here, and maybe I can help.

Randall :-D

Randall,

I need

-- both rear taillight lenses and housings, mine are cracked and I keep blowing bulbs when it rains.

-- windshield wiper moter switch

-- everything needed to convert from air conditioning equipped to non-air conditioned

-- trim for top of tailgate

-- uncracked dash pad (black preferred, but anything will work)

-- all hard plastic trim and door panels (again, black preferred)

I know i'm probably missing something, if I remember it I'll add it later. Let me know if you can find any of these parts. I just checked with mapquest and it appears that Sedro-Woolley is about 200 miles from where I'm at. About a 3.5hour drive. Too far for the current condition of my Sprint (severe oil leaks, weather cracked tires, and slipping trans).

Hey I'm from Castle Rock, but right now I'm at the University of Idaho studying Mechanical Engineering. Gonna be home this summer. I've seen those model elkys in local junkyards, just takes a little hunting to find them.

Bill,

I drive through Woodburn about 3 times a month with my Sprint to make the car payment down in Albany. I heard from a friend that somewhere near Woodburn that there is a black '73-'75 El Camino sitting for $200. I just took a look at the pictures of your '80. It looks like a pretty wild ride. Have you run it at the track in Woodburn? Kinda curious as to the times it ran.

I ran this motor/transmission combo a couple of years ago in a 84 Z-28 and it ran 113mph in the quarter at Woodburn Dragstrip. Unfortunately I was running a 2500 rpm stall convertor in my 700r4 and my 60 foot times were in the 2 second plus range. According to those mph times I should be running in the low 12 high 11 second range. Now I got a 3000 stall Hughes convertor in my tranny and the turbos seem to be at about 3 to 5psi boost. So I think this year will be better. I'll let you know.

Bill

ps. Let me know when you'll be buy in the next month or so after I heal from this heart surgury and we'll take her out for a spin.

I live in Vancouver and am restoring a '76 SS. There is a junk yard in Battle Ground that has a complete '75 Chevelle and a partial '74 (I have the front clip now). The '75 has lots of good stuff on it (great front clip, interior & hood) and the yard is a you-pull-it (very cheap). I'm going over parts hunting today & I'll look for your parts.

I have the '76 grill & headlight buckets off my rig if you need them. There is also a yard in East Vancouver off 4th Plain, called "All American Classics" that has several 4th gen Elkys. I've heard they are kind of spendy, but it might be worth a look.

PM me if you want to come down and do some parts hunting.

Hey, where is that yard in battle ground? I divide my time between Troutdale and Vancouver, and I've been wanting to venture out a little farther in search of junk yards. The portland and damascus u-pull-its used to have a ton of 4th gens but they have all dissapeared. All of their 5th gens are pretty much stripped also. Stay away from All American Classics (www.allamericanclassics.com) they are a huge ripoff. The only problem is that its hard not to go there looking because they have a ton of elkys. I wanted to buy a the upper tailgate trim from a 4th gen, the peice they had was all dented and bent up, and they wanted $40 for it! It was junk but I thought it would be better than nothing. I asked how much they wanted for the tailgate just out of curiosity, it was all dented and rusty too and they said $200. I had previously got a perfectly straight one from a u-pull-it for $20. Man I hate those guys! They also had a front laguna clip (not s3) http://www.allamericanclassics.com/pics/L04464-73laguna01.jpg but they want $500 for it and an additional $150 for the grill.

I also stay away from those bastards @ All American. However, most of the yards in the Portland metro area have already scrapped the 4th gen cars. I paid $125 for a pretty good 4th gen tailgate trim piece (some dings) and felt lucky to get it. I gave $100 for most of a front clip (grill w/header, headlight buckets & front bumper) off a '74 Chevelle. I need some wheel well trim pieces if you happen accross any that are usable.

Well, for those that are looking for parts for me. I've moved to a new place. I'm 20 miles from Longview, WA. And now am in St Helens, OR. I've got a new job too that has me working graveyard Sunday through Thursday. If anybody is up for a little wrecking yard browsing, send me an e-mail, PM, or message here.
For those that aren't looking for parts for me, maybe you could take a look for the following items for a '76 Sprint:

1--- complete wiring harness - no splices or 'modified' wires
2--- tail light housings and lenses- no cracks or obvious damage
3--- front bumper - no dents or damage
4--- rear bumper - no dents or damage
5--- everything needed to convert a/c equipped to non-a/c equipped
6--- all interior plastic - black preferred
7--- e-brake intermediate cables - no frays or damage threads
8--- passenger 1/4 panel - no dents or rust (minor surface rust ok)
9--- drivers lower 1/4 panel in front and rear of wheel well - no dents or rust (minor surface rust ok)
10--- tail gate - minor dings ok, no dents or rust (minor surface rust ok)
11--- windshield wiper switch

That's all the parts I can think of for now. If you know of, or have any of these parts, please let me know.

Thanks,
Charles
