  Due to an unfortunate close encounter with a tree to avoid a collision in the rain, my 82 Conquista suffered some damage to the driver's side door, left front fender, and header cowl. It looks like I'm going to need a complete new door, and I can get by with repaiting the header cowl, but I'd like to get as good a match as possible. I've looked on e-bay, and no parts came up currently. Let me know the best outlets for doors. Local junkyard choices are limited(central Kentucky). The good news is, I'll be repainting the whole ride, and the process will allow me to overhaul the interior, replace carpet, spray on bedliner, and replace the dash while I'm working on the body.

Unless your lucky enough to find good doors in a boneyard, (I've found a passenger side) or you find someone with a parts car with a good door, I have heard that Mikes Montes in Ohio is the place to contact (reasonable...not cheap). They quoted me a price of $425 (both doors) plus $60 per door for shipping to my location. They seem to be getting a good reputation here on ECC.

I've dealt with Mike before, but just small stuff. Seems like a good guy to deal with. Seems to me, one of our members just recently bought some body parts from him and was pleased. Mike's Montes (http://mikesmontes.com/index2.html)

It was alot cheaper for me to find doors and fenders from a Malibu 2 door. Only difference is the glass! Good luck!

Mike, were the doors bare or did they include windows, door panels, etc.?

Personally, I'd never buy anything from Mikes Montes. I've sold some MCSS items to him through ebay and I don't like the way he does business. My $.02

I bought a door from mikes's a couple of years ago, it was supposed to be a rust and bondo free door from out west. when got it home found out it had some rust and quite a bit of bondo in it, but it is still better than the door its going to replace one day.

You know what Ernie, I never bothered to ask. I have the glass and all the door and window mechanisms. I have an excellent condition passenger side door, but the Elky I got both doors off of was hit in the drivers side front (totaled) and bent the door. Both doors were rust free. I paid $80 plus got a gauge cluster thrown in. I cut the skin off and straightened the inner shell, but you know what, I can't find anyone that sells just the skins. I've been told that GM has not released the patent for the doorskins as of yet so no one is stamping them out (aftermarket non OEM). Of course GM discontinued making them. All I really need is a drivers side doorskin. Auto-Parts-For-Less did list them at $159, but I don't think they are in business anymore, or they are going by another name now. The hunt continues! HELP!!! anyone? Of course my son just recently destroyed the MINT condition tailgate on the car, :-( so I had to track one down...Thanks to an ECC member (Nix83elcamino) that problem has been resolved. :)

:-) Thanks for all the advice. You've made a bady day better. I'm still searching for a driver's side door, and I just lost out on a COMPLETE dash on e-bay over the weekend. Please let me know if anyone sees has a dash for sale on the net or e-bay. My 82 Conquista will definitely live to rule the road again next year. 8)

what part of the dash are you looking for? i've got a 78 parts car that still has the dash stuff in it along with what appears to be another one in the bed in pieces. not real up on what fits what but if you can descibe it i will look and see what i've got.
