Any one have any ideas on how to remove old polycoat/ plastic clear coat that is old and chipping badly? I wish to repaint my car.

Clear coats are just like regular paint and will need to be sanded off. There are chemicals which break down paint but this is for taking vehicle to bare metal. I Just finished placing a new clearcoat on my horse trailer and I just buffed out old with 220, washed and dried trailer, used tack cloth to remove any lingering dust and repainted. Came out pretty nice w/o having to place a new color coat. Hope it helps
