Just wondering if it's best to fix the seal or simply purchase a good new or used AC Compressor. Anyone know if good sites for prices for a 87 305. 5.0 Thanks

The one you already have is used...why buy another used one? R-4 compressors are not good canidates for rebuilding. They just aren't sturdy compressors. You could install a new seal, but it takes a handful of specialty tools to do so. You can get a new one for about 250.00 at your local parts house.

just speaking from experience, if that compressor fails. replace it with a new one not a reman. i've had nothing but bad luck with reman r-4 compressors. I think they were no good from the factory. also it would be a good time to convert to r134a.

Thanks jimmy74 I myself don't like remaufactured anything. I purchase a reman. Alternator and the one installed now is the 3rd one(warranty) and it like the others has a minor whine at idle :(
