I know this is probably a shot in the dark, but I thought I'd take the chance anyway...
About 13 years ago, I had seen a 1976 El Camino SS 454 for sale in Des Moines, IA. I was 16 at the time and took my parents to go look at it. The guy had restored the El Camino for his daughter, from the ground up. Once he was done, she didn't want it, so he was selling it.
1976 El Camino, red paint with gold fleck. Gold racing stripes and a custom SS 454 logo on the tailgate. Swivel buckets with crushed velvet interior, and a tricked out 454 under the hood. This truck was absolutely beautiful.
I didn't get the chance to drive it because the engine swallowed a valve and he was in the process of rebuilding it.
I've tried looking through the "Member's Cars" and have not seen it.
This baby has to be out there somewhere.
I believe the guys name was "Tom" that had it.
Just curious if any Des Moines locals know this guy or if they know where this beautiful piece of machine went to.
