: Parting out a 1974 Classic

I'm parting out a '74 El Camino Classic with all original parts to my knowledge. Immaculate bumpers, grill, front fenders, emblems, etc. The interior isn't so great. However, it does have an original SS dash in it. I figured parting it out would bring in more than selling it as a whole. An no I don't hate El Caminos. I love them. I have a lot of good memories in that El Camino. We use to listen to Bon Jovi "Slipper When Wet" EVERYDAY on the way to day care in that baby  . I just have a baby of my own now (my 1979 Berlinetta Camaro) and I wish to put a little more pep in her step. I'm dropping in a autozone-rebuilt '75 block 350 bored 30 over. Supposedly it's from a Chevelle. But that's off subject.

How rare are El Camino classics? How much do you think these parts are worth? I have others that are in good shape but I haven't had time to do an inventory. I'd greatly appreciate your feed back guys. If anyone is interested and they give me a FAIR, GOOD PRICE (not a rip off price) for what a part's worth, I'll try to cut them a deal. And trust me, if you give me a rip off price, someone on this board will be willing to give me a fair price for what it should go for. So PLEASE be honest. If it's $5, say $5. If it's $100, say $100. Once again ladies and gentlemen, thankyou.

After some thought, I figured I should give more details to help you guys decide.

1)The SS dash has some cracks, but appears to be repairable...not shot to hell.
2)The gauge cluster is in great shape last time I checked.
3)All badges are in good shape.
4)Hood ornaments in good shape.
5)Hood in good shape, but slightly bent. The hinges are almost frozen and I put too much pressure on the end one day trying to get it down. It bent on me.:( However, it's not a bad bend, no damage to the cosmetics, and I can EASILY straighten it.
6)The front fenders appeared to be in great shape last time I checked. Both have good marker lenses too.
7)The rear quater panels are shot to sh!t, no two ways about it.
8)The bed and back panel (b/t the cab and bed) are shot to sh!t.
9)The tailgate isn't rusted out but has a few dents and dings I think. We should have another one of those laying around too.
10)The front grill is in immaculate shape
11)Both bumpers are GREAT. The only problems is that they MIGHT have a SMALL rust spot here and there, but it's not a wide spread thing. I have small rust spots on my rims, but they shine, so I assume it's not too big of a deal for original parts and original chrome. I don't know.
12)The vinyl seats are cracked. I'm not sure if the foam is ripped, but I know they'd require some reupholstering.
13)All the original pedals are in good shape, dunno if they are worth anything.
14)All original window trims, good shape. Just needs a bit of chrome polish and a lil wax.
15)VINYL TOP TRIMS, great shape too. Wish I could say the same for the vinyl. haha
16)To my knowledge all the glass is in good shape too, but that's probably not a seller. No one wants old glass.
17)The side mirrors are fine. Dunno about the rear view mirror.
18)10 bolt rear end. I think it's limited slip with 2.73 gears. I'm not exactly sure if it's the original.

That's all I can think of right now, but I'll take inventory when I get back home. I'm hoping to make a gooooood bit because I told my sis I'd split half with her. I didn't want her getting mad, fussing at dad for letting me do it and not givin her a cut, and then him changing his mind. :( Welps, I hope this post helps. Thankyou in advance.

Hey, thanks for the heads up. I'm willing to buy the 350/350 emblems on the quarter panel and the hood ornement. I was also wondering if you could check and see if the glove box hatch is in good shape, unless it's broken in half or looks beyond repair I want it, I'm missing mine completely. I also want the side mirrors and the wiring harness if its not all ****ty. I also need the window tracks for both doors, the hinge covers for the tailgate ( its looks like a little rectangle on the outside bottom of the tailgate) the gauge cluster and the piece that covers the jack compartment behind the seats, if you still have it. In my other elkie I just hung a peice of carpet over it, but I'm doin this the right way. That should be about it for now. Let me know if you have all of this stuff and I'll make a lump sum offer. PS You said it w\has an SS dash? Is it an ss or not?

The dash condition is not important because there are good restore people out there.

I have an SS dash cuz the classic dash crapped out on us. So he just snatched one out of the SS and rocked on with it. It may even have the SS guage cluster if that differs from any other elky?

I'll hit you both up with e-mails as soon as I get back from class...hehe

oh, that reminds me, you said you wanted the 350/350 emblems. it doesn't have 350 emblems. It has "El Camino" and then right under that is "Classic." Classic...that has a cool ring to it. Maybe that's cuz my car will be there in the 2nd week of december :D

ok, here's the run down...i'll answer u all and get up w/ u when i'm prepared to do business...it's still a straggling process...scared i'mma regret saling this thing. haha

by right wheel well, do u mean the insert of the front fender? either way i should have both

i've definitely got classic emblems. to be honest, i'll prolly what a lil lower for them than what NPD does for camaro emblems. (i'm not gunna jack it to $80 a piece...hahahaha)

the dash is still available, but if that scout guy wants the latch...he called it first...sorry
door panels...well the interior was white so it's not like they had a lot of fading to day...but i'm not sure it's something i'd want to put in my camaro...it'd def be a reupholstering job if they even do those to doors.
3rd member inner unit? u mean the piece b/t the 2 seats on the bench?

[B]Well I was thinking more the rearend (axles and all) as the 3rd member..........It's sorta like the thing that helps the motor and transmission move forward and backward on a rear wheel drive vehicle. :)
Where r u located?

I see you're located in NC. I'm in upstate SC. What part of NC?
I could use a headlight wiring harness for a single headlight model and the little chrome strip on the top of the tailgate.

I got in a fender bender and bent up the passenger side headlight bezel on my 74 Elki. Someone I knew said he had a replacement, but it's either for a 73 ir a 75, and doesn't line up properly to the center trim pieces around the grill it's supposed to bolt to.

I want to get the body work finished and get it repainted, but I need this part!

I recently moved from SC to Durham, NC, and hoped you might still have this part??

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated,

Deb
