Smashed up my car's front end. 84 SS
We all know these cars are hard to find parts for
Any advice on where to look?

Well first off sorry to hear about your accident! Is your insurance company paying? What parts were destroyed? Almost all the front end parts are readily available, but that depends on what you need.

Also sorry to hear you banged up your Elky. My 82 got whacked in the rear end a couple weeks ago and apparently GM has obsoleted the rear bumper - so maybe also the front bumper is as well. Dealer ended up getting one from The El Camino Store. (There are cheaper vendors) The bumper shock mounts were available from GM. Fortunately that is all I needed. Mine was an insurance claim on the other guy so I am coming out OK - actually better than OK as my bumper was getting a little thin on top and a little rust underneath.

I almost had them order the bumper predrilled for rubber strips and bumper guards as the price was the same - I would just have had to spend about $230 of my own money to get the rubber and guards + installation. I decided not to go that route as I do like all the chrome showing. And I would have rubber on the rear and none on the front so more money to do the front. Not that money is ever a concern.......

Thanks everyone

No, i get no insurance money. I was dead set on getting this car, and it was my first car, so it wasn't fully restored, just replaced all the engine parts and made it run real good. So I was only partially covered on my dad's insurance

As for damage, no engine damage thank god, but since I have the plastic front end that comes with the 84 ss, it crumpled up pretty fast and shattered a light. So I'm going to need to replace the entire front end I believe, and the hood.

The site with the elky parts helps a lot, anyone else have sites like these? I'm going to fix my baby up (again) and this time I'll be a bit more careful with her.

Joe - I've got two spare noses for 5th gens in my garage. Will let them go cheap. Also know locations of several junkyard Elky right in your home town. Give me a call at my home tonight. You've got my number.

John - are any of the boneyards around Ayer? My daughter lives there and when I visit and she is at work I would love to go Elky pickin'. :)

Jim

PS - We have a high school down here named after you - whole darn town for that matter - Harrisburg.
