New to this site - been lookin' for a 59 since 1991, you know a reasonably priced project car. My Dad had one when i was growing up that i always loved and i'd found the guy who bought it & though it'd been 3yrs & he'd never touched it, it was no dice!! Kept lookin' & response was always "why would you want such an ugly car?" or "funny looking car?" well i've been hopefull & don't have a lot of cash but always checkin the car shows & backroads then yesterday i'm turnin the pages of automobile magazine & there it is, my car! article says how rare it is & roughly what it's worth so i ask you -- what are the chances i'll find one now, ??? AAuugh!!! i figure you guys have seen enough of them come and go. Any thoughts? Much appreciated.

I am in Australia and I see the occasional '59 advertised here, some of them are recent imports, so they are around.
I recommend you "throw your net far and wide". Keep watching eBay and other sales references. Persevere and you will eventually find what you are looking for, I am sure.

B4 it was just a search & everyone laughed. Now it's a Mission!!! :D i'd better pick up a few more hours at work though, it might cost more than i have now.

I had wanted one since I was a teen.
Spent about 7 yrs actively looking for a decent car to work with.
Found one in San Antonio within days of moving to Texas.
Paid thru the nose for it, but actually drove it home.
Engine and trans were were welded in, upper control arm bracket for the rear end had been pulled from the frame and welded back together.
Bumpers were welded on.
Took 5 yrs and a lot of my wife's patience to get it done, and still have not been able to locate a good bed floor.
As I recall---the rear glass is no longer available for this---so if you find one, make sure the rear glass is good, and all side and cab trim is there.
The frame on mine was so goofy----It is now sitting on a BelAir frame.

Over the last few months, I have seen at least a dozen '59s on ebay in varying states of repair, and for a wide range of prices. They are out there, just keep looking.

Thanks guys for the encouragement, and to Bryan59ec - glad to hear your wife is on your side. My husband has been a real help and since he's big on cars i've now recruited him in the search. He's got faith since he was able to find himself a 65 chevy II with lower production numbers than the 59 el camino. The search continues....
