I just bought a '70 Elky, and I don't know what the distinguishing characteristics are between the SS and the 'plain old' Elky.
All the emblems are missing.

Well, no offense but your post leaves out a lot of critical information. Obviously without pictures who knows. Is it cowl induction? Does it have round gauges? Big block? 12 bolt rear-end? SS wheels? SS emblem on the horn? And all of this can be added after the fact to make a 'fake' SS.

Post some pictures. Without photos it's anybody's guess.
