I'm trying to figure out how to remove the dash on my 79 El Camino it is totally beat chunks missing. Anyway aside from a couple obvious screws. I don't know where I'm looking. Any help you have would be great.

Remove the dash pod, radio and loosen the ac/heater control. Remove the two screws by the defroster ducts on each side. Remove the two screws on each side by the kick panel vents and one on the right side of the transmisson hump (10mm from the bottom). Be careful when you pull it out because the wiring harness will catch on the left defroster duct and break it.
If you do a search there are some very detailed instructions in some of the older posts.

Thanks 464. I was looking at some of the older posts on older Elks but they didn't help much. haven't found an old post for the right vintage.

You will also need to remove the two nuts that hold the steering column and drop down the column. And don't forget the e-brake cable. You need to remove the gauge pod before you can remove the padded dash

Thanks Jim I may take another shot at it this weekend, but unfortunately my project has become my daily driver at least for a little while.
