I just picked up a 76 Elky project car and was wondering if there was anyone else in the area working on a similar vehicle. I live in the northside of town (Smyrna)

Welcome to ECC durdes, it's good to have another 4th gen owner. Got any pics?

I have several 4th gen parts cars, let me know if there's something you might need, I may be able to help out.

I've been messing with a 76 Sprint, just put some homemade floors in it, didn't come out too bad. Put new carpet in it this eve, and a decent seat from my 73 Sprint. Trying to get it ready to sell. It'll be a decent beater for a work vehicle, needs to much body work to get it back. Runs great, and everything works, pw, ac, lights etc........I'm gonna shoot for 1500 obo, see what happens.

Are you in the Atlanta area? I'm thinking the Smyrna in TN.

Motor Safe :D

Caveman,
Good luck on the sell of the Sprint
I may need some parts as I dig deeper into my 76
One project I'm considering is restoring the engine back to to a 2 barrel carb.
Here's a link to some pics ----> 76 El Camino (http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y158/durdes/El%20Cid/?)

Thanks PaPaJohn,
So far in the 2 months I've had it, I have rebuilt the brake system (master cylinder, rotors, pads, rear shoes and wheel cylinders), replaced the water pump and restored power to the brake and backup lights.
Next on the list: replace fuel sending unit, convert AC system to R134, add bed liner and tonneau cover, then a fresh coat of paint.

Looks good Pat, keep us posted on the progress. You've already got a lot accomplished in a short time, sure wish I had that kind of energy :)

The Sprint I have is a 77, I was thinking it was a 76, must me that CRS kicking in again

Caveman or PapaJohn,
Do either of you know where I can pick up a proportioning valve for my brake lines?
I have bled the lines, made sure there was not any air in the lines, but the brake light will not go off. I have good, equal pressure between the front and rear. I think the relay in valve is stuck closed.
Anyway, I can't seem to locate one locally or online. Any ideas?

Can't help with the valve, Pat. However I do have the manifold and carb, with air cleaner, if you get interested. I'm not quite a two hour drive up I75 in NW Georgia.

Pat,
Did you get the brake problem fixed? I pulled a proportioning valve off of one of my parts cars if you still need one.

I have a 1980 Elkie I am restoring in Marietta near the square. I have had the rear brakes rebuilt, transmission rebuilt, re-painted, and I am now the proud owner of 4 brand new white wall tires. Email if you are interested in getting together. I know of a couple more Elkies in the area.
