Okay well picked up another engine today and had a question regarding casting numbers and oddities.
the block says 460776 which is a 305, but on the opposite side from those casting ref numbers it says 350, why? also on the block was f0105DTY not sure what the meaning is for this.
Another number that was found was 14702198(or 1470219S couldnt make it out) but not getting any hits on this from google.

The trans had a small metal plate on the pass side that said 82-fd-2560L anyone know what model this was?

According to Chevymania the block casting #460776 is a '76-'79 2bolt main 305 for a car or truck. The DTY suffix breaks it down to a '79 Impala, 305 cu in, 130hp, RPO LG-3, with a TH-350 trans and a 2 bbl carb. To ID the trans go HERE (http://www.maliburacing.com/) click on TECH then click on Automatic Tranny Guide, this is easier than trying to decode numbers on tranny's.
