I bought my El Camino when I was 15, and I will never hopefully have to get rid of it, but I also have another pride and joy I bought when I was 21, which is my 1993 GMC Typhoon. Its is number 180 out of 2200 produced in 93, and a complete blast to drive on the street or strip. I also run a club for Syclone and Typhoon owners from Virgina to Maine.
You can check it out at www.sy-ty.com

Just curious to see if anyone else has other toys in their garage. Any 55-57 Chevys in the house? some has to have one, c'mon. :D

I bought my El Camino new when I was 19, 2 weeks before graduation. I also have a 2002 Camaro SS. Nothing else in the garage but I do have plans for a 66-67 Nova with a big block. 8O

My other "toy" is part daily driver, part winter beater, and part project. It's a 1986 Jeep Wagoneer Limited (think smaller Cherokee) with a carb'd 2.8 Chevy. The plan for that is to tare it apart once I get the body work done on the Elky. The jeep will then get a Multi-Port FI 2.8 from a Camaro, some suspension work, and new paint. It's my winter ride when the Elky gets stored, the addition of the FI will just make it much more "user freindly" than the old, underpowered carb'd engine. 8)

but i have a homemade vw sandrail that i got for free two years ago which has no engine and i have been trying to get rid of it.

i also have a montgomery ward "terrain-cycle" from the '70s. its a mini trike with a go cart engine and i have had it for four years but i still havent had a chance to drive. right now it is sitting with the engine on the seat. i'll never sell it though because i have never seen another one.

Other than my two Elkys, I really don't have any toys, but I get to go to work and play with my companys toys, usually its three SD-60 Union Pacific Freight Train engines with a combined horsepower rating of over 9000 HP and almost 2 miles of freight train behind them. What can I say, it's a job and somebodys gotta do it. :P

Being in High School, I only have my camino, but my family is pretty loaded.

My Dad has a 72 Chevelle SS 454, and a 48 Anglia Gasser project in the works. My Stepdad has a 70 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler with a 429SCJ and still has his first car which is a 65 Ford Falcon that he intends to restore pretty soon. One of my grandfathers has an all original (I want to say 63 but not sure) Ford Falcon Convertible, and he's in the process of rebuilding a 65 Ford Falcon Station Wagon to its original beauty.

Hopefully, some day, Ill see one of those cars in my hands

I have to admit, I'm a glutton for punishment when it comes to older vehicles, mostly Chevys. I got my 64 Camino when I was 16, and never intend to let go of it. My current additions to the stable are my 87 terdcell, daily putt-putt, which I am not proud of, but it gets 38 mpg. My other include a 1972 Datsun 240Z, all original with 270,000 miles, and so far the only tri-five listed, my 1957 Chevy 3100 1/2 ton parts chaser. My camino is undergoing a compete rebuild, and my '57 is about to recieve a transplant of a 327 in place of the original 6 cyl.

I have a '67 chevelle,'81 elco and '81 monte carlo. The elco's my daily driver\project. The monte is my back up car and the chevelle is the toy. It is a 70,000 mile original that i'm restoring. It was a 283 with a powerglide and a 10 bolt rear. Now it's a 427 big block, turbo 400 and a 12 bolt posi. Man is it fast! My elco does ok with a 350, 350 turbo.

I love those 427s. One of my budddies transplanted one from a Vette into his 69 Chevelle SS with 3.31 axle and 4 spd. The engine was an L88. Nothing we ever raced would ever thouch it. Except for highly modified blueprinted '68 350 SS Camaro sporting 4.88 gearing and a 1050 Thermoquad carb.. (about dead even)

We raced a '70 428CJ Twister Special Mustang with the 4.30 drag pak. The Mustang jumped us out of the hole but the second half of the 1/4 mile the Chevelle totally ruled.

I must preface this subject by saying I've had many different makes of cars. Styling is what I like, not necessarily any particular manufacturer. This is why I currently own my 1968 elCamino. But onto the main subject...

1 1999 Mustang Cobra convertible
1 1998 Mustang Cobra hardtop

Other cars from the past:

1967 Pontiac GTO
1972 Dodge Charger
1978 Datsun 280Z
1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass
1964 Ford Falcon stationwagon
1963 Volkswagon Beetle
1965 Jeep Wagoneer
1997 Jeep Wrangler
1985 Chevy S10
1967 Ford 250
Oh, I've also had some crappy cars too, but I try to forget those.

My other car is a 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX, 2.0 turbocharged, all-wheel drive, 5 speed. All my cars before this one have been american but you can't say no when somebody wants to give you their car, even if it's an import.

This is my daily driver and I like it because it gives me decent gas mileage, very necessary nowadays. This car is pretty fast as soon as the turbo kicks in and it felt good blowing the doors off of that souped up Honda that challenged me on the highway the other day. I plan to do it again when the Elky is ready. :D

Previous toys/daily drivers (I miss 'em all  )

1971 AMC Javelin SST, 327/th350 chevy motor & tranny!
1979 Ford Fairmont, 140 4cyl, 4 speed
1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu, 250/three on the tree
1985 Pontiac Sunbird, 2.0 auto
1984 Pontiac Sunbird, 1.8 turbo, auto
1979 Pontiac Grand LeMans, 350/350
1972 Plymouth Duster, 360/727
1985 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z, 2.2 turbo 5-speed
1984 Dodge Daytona, 2.2 5-speed
1984 Chrysler Laser, 2.2 turbo, auto
1982 Dodge Diplomat, 318/904
1993 Eagle Talon, 2.0 5-speed.

Got lots of "projects":
'70 ford torino, currently a 302, but I have a rebuildable 460
'80 (?) monte carlo with a pos v6... for sale
'79 280ZX 2 seater, 5 spd
'82 280ZX 2+2 auto
'91 toyota supra turbo (almost sold)
'62 plymouth valiant wagon, slant six, begging for a 340 and a restoration
'62 ford pickup, basketcase... for sale
'89 dodge dynasty (mom's car, needs trans)
'84 honda crx, blown motor, for sale (someone please take this pos out of my way)

I think Jeff Foxworthy said it best: "If you mow your lawn and find more than 3 cars..." yeah, my neck is so red, it glows in the dark...

I'm considering selling the Torino... If anyone likes these cars and wants a project to work on, let me know. It's been sitting for 7 years or so... I'd be willing to part with it for a grand (negotiable).
