Hey everyone. Here's a tough one. I just bought an 87 camino. Someone told me the rear lights weren't working so i changed the fuse and the problem was solved. A few days later same problem and same solution. A few days later same thing. I brought the car to a place that specializes in auto electric. After looking into it all day the guy realized that everytime i put the radio on the rear lights would go out. So he disconnected just the ground wire for the radio. It still has power to it. I have not had a problem since. Can anyone explain this to me?
I am sure you are wondering why i didn't just ask the guy who figured it out. I have used him in the past because he is very good at what he does. He always solves the problem but he has some issues and is not very customer friendly. It's almost like the Soup Nazi on Sienfeld. What i explained is all he would tell me.
It is an aftermarket radio with a 10 disk CD changer. I want to get a new radio even though i am one of those guys who likes to listen to the Flowmasters more than the radio. I am hoping to get some help from you guys on what you think before i go and buy one. I have never gotten any bad info here so i am looking forward to your input.
Thanks
Steve
