: Carb to TBI conversion?

I have a 1983 EC with 229 ci V6. The PO had converted it to a 4 barrel carb so obviously the intake manifold is NOT stock since it has 4 holes in it. The computer has been removed and it is just a vanilla ignition system.

If I wanted, and I do, to convert it to TBI, considering what I already have, what is the least expensive way to make that change? Or is such a change just not feasible since I no longer have the computer?

If I need to replace the intake manifold, is there a market for my 4 barrel manifold for a 229?

I might replace that manifold ANYWAY and go back to a 2 barrel carb if the TBI doesn't make sense.

probably the easiest and cheapest way would be to get a Holley projection fuel injection system--it comes with everthing you need and should bolt to the intake you have. It comes with the throttle body unit computer fuel pump and wiring harness and instructions---I have seen used ones go for 2-3 hundred bucks on ebay-----good luck, I personally think fuel injection is the only way to go................Dan

At your suggestion I checked out both the Pro-Jection and the Megasquirt and while the first seems like a plug and play compared to the latter the latter is newer technology, cheaper in the long run and computer adjustable with a Lap top so I am leaning toward the Megasquirt. Also it looks like I can use it on my Corvair in my #1 motorhome and the Olds Tornado in my #2 Motor home. Now if I could only find a used one to save money it will be my next under the hood mod on the El Camino as a testbed for the two motor homes..

I did bid on a used Pro-Jection unit on EBay but it went for $125 and I can get a new Megasquirt along with a junk yard TBI for just about that amount so why go used?
