PROSOUTH 11-26-2003, 05:20 PM Yes, let me wish everyone a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving as well.
The Interstate roads here are full and dangerous as usual this time of the year, so everyone becareful. I always hated to work a bad wreck of other tradgedy this time of year.
As some of you know I'm now 50 and I have recently retired from the Sheriff's Dept. and returned to the public sector. This will be the first year in many that I am going to be off and not working Thanksgiving and Christmas. I usually worked every Christmas because I didn't have kids and some of the younger officers all wanted to be off with there families. For good reasons such as this I never seemed to mind though. I liked to deliver the toys for tots and was the Chairman of the Sheiff's Charity Fund.
I went up on the mountian today and visited an old man I know, heck I guess I know most everyone around here specially those with certain character traits, and purchased me a glass hook gallon jug of homemade blackberry wine, sure is good, this is the kind you don't have to have them long skinny glasses made from crystal to drink from, it's just as good from a plastic Dixie cup, sure is.
Y'all remember what I said about being careful, remember what the holidays are about and always hold your family close and dear.
Y'all have a goodun' now, and don't worry, Bubba (my brother n law) and his family are comin' over for dinner and glass of two of this here wine. I 'spect after that I'll just be sittin' here and watchin' the fire burn.
Happy Thanksgiving, Jim

I will tell you that POVs (privately owned vehicles) are the number one killer in the military, hard to imagine that eh, and it is probably close in the civilian sector as well. We're working at it though, and it pays to be an advocate of Safety.
You all make sure to "buckle up" when behind the wheel, even if it's just to go down the road a touch.......Lee :D

They say most wrecks happen just a few miles from home. I myself know from personal experience that this is true. I half-way rolled my truck about 1/2 mile from my own home two weeks after I got my license. I came over the top of a small hill and saw a deer on the other side, I hit the brakes and heard the left rear tire lock up. I don't remember anything after that untill the truck is about 30 yards down the road with the passenger side is on the ground and the truck is rocking back and forth and front to back. There was a small tree that kept me from falling 25feet forward and a telephone pole that kept me from rolling all the way onto the top. Thank God the canopy is what helped save me, as that is where the pole was resting. I didn't even hit the deer, since then I do just the opposite, NAIL THE THROTTLE! There was very, and I mean very, slight damage to the truck. Slight oil stains when it leaked out the valve covers and small dent about 4"x6" above the door and a dent above the right rear wheel well. The only other damage was to myself, and that was just two small bruises on my hip and shoulder from where the seat belt held me in place. I've always made it a habit to put my seat belt on before starting my cars.
Anyway, back to the original topic. To everybody from my family, to yours: Have a wonderfully happy and safe thanksgiving!
Charles

71Sprint 11-27-2003, 08:15 AM Happy Thanksgiving Guys and Gals,
Happy Thanksgiving to all, Hey Prosouth where in middle TN do you live?
send me private msg if you don't want everybody knowing.
Brian
PROSOUTH 11-27-2003, 08:46 AM You asked this before Bryan, I remember that you're a truck driver and come through Manchester a lot. I live behind the Weigh Scales at Exit 114 on I-24.
I saw a real nice Red '71 or '72 Sprint this week in Sparta at a Specialty Car Lot, really a nice piece. Most of the prices were not that bad and the guy only has nice stuff.
I was up there looking at an Enclosed Trailer to haul my toys in this year. I'm looking at a 28' Haulmark to make a car hauler and camper combo out of. The one I looked at has a factory interior in it and all I would need to do is put in the Bath, AC unit on top and the Awning on the side. At $300 a weekend it wouldn't take long to recoupe some of the money plus having a place to cool off at the car shows and secure storage of my car.

Tell your family how important they are to you. Keep our armed forces in your prayers while they are away making this holiday possible. And pray that our leaders find the strength and vision to guide us through these days. From where it first started,...the Massachusetts Bay Colony! John
